Just saw a tweet mention that the Jays wouldn't do a Stroman for Blackmon deal straight up...seems like we want more than Blackman. What else could they add for it to work?
Edit: same tweet posted earlier...just saw the straight up part
Last year Blackmon hit 17 of 29 homers on the road and hit .313. Looks like he does well regardless of ball park. Won't see a .330bavg like he did at Coors, but .300 is totally in reality and is the type of hitter we need. Would be nice if it didn't cost Stroman though.
Really. 3 yrs of a relatively cheap OF that can play RF, LF, and CF. Can steal 25-30 bases, hit 25-30 HR, hit .300 with probably at worst a .800 ops. That's worth trading Stroman unless he improves off of this past season imo.
Reported offers on the table to Edwin that he can't even get a 3/60 offer. If we offered that to him now he probably takes it in a heartbeat. Morales at DH and Pearce in LF.
If Bautista end up true. Why don't they just pony up some money, sign Edwin for 1 year and put him at 1B and Pearce in LF. We have a good lineup again and Edwin can sign with no draft pick attached next season
I disagree about back of the pen. With Osuna being only 21 his upside and previous production probably puts him ahead of Kimbrel imo. The other 2 will be a wash I think.
As for Wright he is going to be a mixed bag like Dickey I believe. Last year he was great until the last month or 2 where he imploded if I remember correctly. I assume they would go with Rodriguez at #5 which is ok...but our #5 whoever you consider it to be should be better.
Edit: I am not saying Boston will be bad...in fact their pitching will be really good. I just think we will be better.
Their #4 and #5 starters are not good imo....and their bullpen is questionable.
We are solid #1-5 with upside to be even better. Back end of our pen is great as well. We just need to full out the rest of our pen.
Red Sox might see a slide in Price and Porcello so...yes overall I think we will be better.
Could be the FO actually knows the talent we have in the minors and is trying to put together a contending team but not overpay...knowing the young stars in the minors will be up in 3 or so yrs. Plus adding 2-3 1st round picks this year should give the farm even more talent to either trade or make a difference down the road for us.
