    Probably. Dudes just coming back k off a fairly major injury and he legit sucks against LHP. Straw is like 99% as good in CF and has been good with the stick so far. Seems like a very defensible move.

    Fair enough. He just doesn't bring what the Jays need in their lineup. Yeah he'd likely be an okay fill-in short-term, or a guy thye could call up for a doubleheader as the extra man, but...nothing exciting.

    Yeah, he looks a bit lost at the plate. Which circles back to my point though, he's not gonna learn to adjust to MLB pitching in AAA. That's why it's a tough call.

    It's gotta be getting close. Maybe another week more so as it's exceptionally clear he hasn't been able to make the adjustment. On the other hand... his D and baserunning have been fine, and it's impossible to learn to adjust to MLB pitching in AAA. Tough call.

    Yeah for sure. Relying in singles and stringing them together might actually work if you had team speed to go with it. Slow, plodding morons that run themselves off the bases...not so much.

    The thing is, Mattingly is technically right, you make more outs in the air than you do on the ground. But he also doesn't think far enough past that point to realize that when the balls you hit in the air don't go for outs, they go for extra bases far more often than ground balls do. Not very many HRs are hit on ground balls.

    Its not even about the unliklihood of sustained long innings of hits, it's that even if you get sustained long innings of singles, you don't score many runs. In a lineup that features Santander, Vlad, Kirk and "insert anyone else here" it could take a minimum 3 singles, even 4 just to score 1 run. It's not efficient

    6 runs on 18 hits? Dreaming. Would take this offense nearly 30 hits, 4 of the runs would score on sac flies, and the other 2 on GIDPs with the bases loaded and none out.
