  1. Vasquez really being overly aggressive... He needs to calm down. It's okay to play with intensity but you have to be under control.
  2. Nice Ross, take it to rack and good s*** happens
  3. DeRozan makes it but still long two.... Really need to get inside, get them I to foul trouble... Another 3 missed....
  4. First two shots are from mid to longe range... 1 hit 1 miss... Go inside boys
  5. Hope they keep pounding it inside, even though they aren't going to JV, getting really good looks inside.
  6. I don't get it, you know he's going to be taking a three at the end of the quarter, get in his face!
  7. 2 starters, 3 bench guys.... Salmons in, Casey needs to ride his starters harder
  8. I'm watching the ABC feed, neither announcer knows how to pronounce Vasquez.... Both are saying Vaskwez
  9. Really hope Casey doesn't go full derp in his rotations...
  10. I guarantee the Nets will be in the bonus every quarter...
  11. His K's are down, walks and ground balls are up, strand rate is awful and will likely improve...still preventing HR nicely. Wouldn't be a terrible pickup for someone, as most of the numbers should regress and he'd still be serviceable. Not upper tier or anything, but an okay pen arm.
  12. 13. Not quite like that though. You have to pay him a base salary and then add incentives based on # of starts or IP. For example... 5 million base salary with bonuses of 1 million for hitting 150 IP, 175 and 200... Or 1 million bonus for hitting 20, 25 and 30 starts. Bonuses on a per start basis wouldn't be allowed.
  14. Latest Baseball America Hot sheet: http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/prospect-hot-sheet-may-2-bet-on-betts-for-top-spot/ 2. Marcus Stroman, rhp Team: Triple-A Buffalo (International) Age: 22 Why He’s Here: 1-0, 0.00, 6 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 10 SO The Scoop: As detailed earlier this week, Stroman appears on the cusp of a callup to Toronto to replace the struggling Dustin McGowan. And why not? He’s done everything he can at Triple-A, including what could have been his parting shot, a six-inning, no-hit, 10-strikeout valedictory speech. Questions abound about his size and relative lack of innings so far, but the Jays curbed him at 80 pitches in his most recent outing. In The Team Photo Matt Boyd, lhp, Blue Jays. He’s already 23, so Boyd’s tear through the Florida State League while at high Class A Dunedin has to be tempered. But it’s tough to ignore 4-0, 0.29 and a 37/5 SO/BB ratio. He has an average fastball so skeptics abound, and his first outing Thursday at Double-A New Hampshire (4 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 4 SO) could be more indicative of his stuff. Dalton Pompey, cf, Blue Jays. The speedy, switch-hitting Ontario native went 10-for-24 (.417) with two doubles, two triples, six walks and three stolen bases this week at high Class A Dunedin. The Blue Jays have to be thrilled with his showing in April, which neatly encapsulates the 21-year-old table-setter’s skill set. Pompey ranks among the Florida State League leaders with 14 steals, 37 hits and a .444 on-base percentage.
  15. Agreed. The Recency Effect is on display in full force here.
  16. Yup, that's why it's hard not to over-react... Had the pen blow ups been spread out like they were last year, nobody would even care, when they happen seemingly day after day for a three week period, it just seems gloomy. This pen could go on a two week stretch(unlikely of course) and allow no runs at all, and people would still remember the blow ups.
  17. I don't think a full on blow up is needed. With a bit of thought and less reactionary ******** from the FO(prefrrably an entirely new FO), this roster could be retooled pretty efficiently, without having to watch a team like Houston for 4 years.
  18. Yes, those types of incentives are allowed, as are incentives based on innings pitched, games started... Etc, just not actual performance stats like strikeouts, ERA, and stuff like that.
  19. http://www.rantsports.com/mlb/2014/02/10/one-of-the-pittsburgh-pirates-2008-free-agent-signings-is-about-to-pay-off/ There ya go, was a shoulder problem. I guess he could still pitch this year and next if he wasn't released already. His MiLB.com page still shows him as active. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=573653
  20. Singh was still in Pirates camp in this year's spring training though, his dream just ended. The other guy though was turfed in 2010. Interesting though that the contest they participated in in India was called Million Dollar Arm, but the prize was only 100k. Their signing bonuses for Pittsburgh only totalled 8k between them...
  21. Hey that new baseball movie Million Dollar Arm about finding pitchers from India, wasn't it the Pirates that did that and brought over 2 kids?
  22. Well in reality, it's almost impossible to have a true tie, the probability is really low. But to truly be able to differentiate what happens first in those situations, you'd have yo be able to go down to milliseconds.
