  1. Kiermeier is better at everything than Pillar. Not substantially light years better, but better. Pillar is Kiermeier-lite. Also Pillar is over 1 year older. I dunno, 8.3 million isn't bad for a 4 WAR player, but in Pillar's case when it's 100% defense and no bat... I really don't think you need to lock him up long term. Defense doesn't drive arbitration paydays. Go year by year, pay him as little as possible and cut him loose when someone better comes along, which won't be long.
  2. The troll Force is strong in this one.
  3. Vlad Jr - low A full season Lansing. Alford - AA New Hampshire. SRF - could be AA or High A Dunedin. He split last year at Low A and High A and lit up High A, so it likely depends on his spring. MY personal bet is High A with a move up quick if he dominates. Urena - AA with a quick move up if he does well. Tellez- probably AAA Greene - AA Gourriel - AA
  4. The way they determine eligibility is quite forgiving. Basically, if you've heard of Jews, you can play for Israel.
  5. To be fair, nearly everything he says is dumn as s***
  6. This same s*** was said about catchers masks, warning tracks, goalie masks, helmets in hockey, half-visors, christ even batting helmets.... grown men as a group are pretty much f***ing morons when it comes to making decisions about their safety.
  7. Safe to say Canada rotation is nothing more than a Dempster fire?
  8. Yeah that's fair. Maybe next WBC there's Paxton, Taillon, Cal Quantrill, and Mike Soroka.
  9. Just wonder what the problem is with pitchers that just don't want to play. I get its not an oblibagation, but come on.
  10. Has he faced a major league pitcher yet? I haven't been watching much ST
  11. Until canada can field a proper pitching staff, there's not much hope.
  12. Yeah. The practicality of a screen just doesn't make sense. Some sort of lightweight helmet with padding will eventually happen. But even then, once the materials and style is made and agreed upon, look at how different all these pitchers finish their motions in while the ball is being struck, different pitchers would need padding in different places.
  13. Thank god we found this out before he even got to 1000 PAs in the minors.
  14. I smell a wager coming on.
  15. I think the save would happen first, then your subsequent arrest for streaking around the RC would be what makes national news. Btw, when this happens, because .... it will.....please have someone follow you around on a bike or something with Ray Stevens, The Streak on fulblast.
  16. So where does Pillar's offensive value come from then? His nonexistent strike zone awareness? Below average power? His contact ability is only a benefit if he learns strike zone awareness, because watching him make contact on balls 2 feet outside the zone that he has no business swinging at isn't really a plus.
  17. For maybe about 2 or 3 more seasons, then his legs start to go, defense takes a nosedive and he loses the CF gig and cant play the corner OF because his below average bat wouldn't play there. 4th OF at best by 2019/2020.
  18. Making predictions on anyone based on 1 game is stupid everywhere, not just here.
  19. 2. Are you for geting the politics thread?

  21. No soup for you.
  22. And pretty much the poster boy for why teams draft the tools athletes over others. Becasue IF they develop the tools into skills....
  23. How dare you call down the Cuban Bryce Harper
  24. Listening to Jamie Campbell on PTS right now, apparantly the secret to every bench player being good is just giving them more at bats. His evidence? Cuz Smoak had a good couple of series last year when he got to play for 2 weeks straight as a starter. Ding... f***ing ..... ding
