  1. Can't be world beaters every night. They've been in a rough stretch lately though
  2. Living in Baltimore probably pushed them 90% of the way to despair to begin with.
  3. If he hits 50 hrs for 3 or 4 years straight, he'll opt out faster than you can blink. If his seasons are mere really good, then yeah he stays in.
  4. You're forgetting the high liklihoodood of a Stanton opt out. If he has a great few seasons, its a no brainer to opt out and test free agency again. Yankees may not even have to deal with any art of his decline phase
  5. All defense guys have been underpaid for years if you look at salary vs WAR, largely because arbitration awards do not factor in defense at all when determining what number is chosen so there's never a precedent for these guys to get what they're actually worth.
  6. I highly doubt that was Duquette's call. That kind of philosophy has Angelos written all over it.
  7. I'll let my list ride.
  8. Vlad Bo Alford Pearson Warmoth Zeuch Borucki Jansen Gurriel Pannone
  9. Arguably the best 2nd unit in the NBA?
  10. My first reaction was... who the f*** is Maximo Castillo? 18, rh pitcher from Venezuela, signed for 10k bonus in September 2015. Played in the Dominican league last year and Advanced rookie this year in Bluefield. Threw 47 innings, struck out 52, only walked 7. I have no idea as to what he throws or a scouting report.
  11. I wish goals like this were scored more often, it would really make soccer worth watching. Good on the boys for winning though. MLS and CFL Champs this year....maybe the city will win a title in a meaningful sport soon!
  12. They announced he would not be playing outfield, but rather as a DH... in 2018, so they put that to bed early
  13. It's also pretty likely he opts out if he continues to put up big numbers over the next few years. If that's the case, the NY can just bid him farewell and let the next sucker take the declining 30s risk.
  14. Some food for thought on this
  15. According to multiple the sources the deal is all but finalized. The exact return is unknown but Starlin Castro is the currently rumoured centerpiece going back to Florida along with several prospects. Tehre are still physicals to be taken so nothing is official yet and neither team has confirmed the deal but baseball insiders are saying the deal is agreed upon. Felt this was thread worthy over being stuck on the back end of the Around Baseball discussion.
  16. He owns 4 % of the team, it's not like he's a real decision maker over there. He's just the pretty recognizable face with a baseball name they can use to market the team.
  17. Sure, in hindsight it always seems like a waste of time when your team gets informed they didn't make the cut. But you still make the pitch 100 times out of 100 because of the potential return. So, if you make the pitch 100 times out of 100, it is not pointless nor a waste of time/resources by definition. The only waste would be if a team made no effort whatsoever
  18. I very much doubt that any competent GM was putting all his eggs in the Ohtani basket without looking at all possibilities. Yes,it's possible this whole scenario has held up signings of players because teams wanted to know how it would all shake out, but big names generally don't sign this early in the offseason anyways and theres almost always 1 guy in every offseason that has this effect, whether it's a huge name FA or international target And if you think this was a slow November wait till next offseason when some guy named Harper is available along with Machado.
  19. So who is all left... Rangers, Cubs, Dodgers, Padres, Mariners, Giants....who else?
  20. 3 threads within a few minutes of each other. How can u tell it's been a slow offseason
  21. For Stanton there's no such thing as a pitchers park
  22. But are you shocked AND appalled?
  23. Sucks about the inappropriate comments thing I suppose, but if that's the grenade that needed to be jumped on to get that idiot off the air.... I guess it's not all bad.
  24. He's got the IQ of a squirrel, so it's not really all that shocking.
