  1. Players of the Day: Rowdy Tellez, Tim Lopes Honourable mentions: Kevin Smith, Kevin Vicuna, Andres Sotillo, Lourdes Gurriel Jr
  2. I'very downloaded Audacity, an open source free audio editor so I'm gonna start playing with that over the next little while in preparation of the possibility of actually needing it
  3. Get dat save!
  4. 2 other Jays on the Hot Shhet again after Vlad's second straight #1 ranking 9. Cavan Biggio, 2B, Blue Jays Team: Double-A New Hampshire (Eastern) Age: 23 Why He’s Here: 320/.500/.640 (8-for-25), 4 R, 2 2B, 2 HR, 4 RBIs, 9 BB, 8 SO, 1-for-3 on SBs. The Scoop: Biggio’s 12 home runs in just 38 games has to rank as one of the biggest surprises of the 2018 minor league season. He hit 15 in three seasons at Notre Dame and was much more of a on-base machine than a power threat. But Biggio has junked the stance he used at Notre Dame. When he was there, he started with his hands far above his head in a stance that would not look out of place in the NPB. Instead, he starts with his hands set at shoulder level. The simplified stance has shortened Biggio’s bat path significantly and he also does a better job of hitting the ball in the air, which has paid off with newfound power. (JJ) 12. Kevin Smith, SS/3B, Blue Jays Team: low Class A Lansing (Midwest) Age: 21 Why He’s Here: .318/.464/.773 (7-for-22), 7 R, 1 2B, 3 HR, 9 RBIs, 5 BB, 5 SO, 0-for-1 SB The Scoop: While Vlad Jr. rightfully dominates the headlines, the Blue Jays have two prospects—Cavan Biggio and Kevin Smith—whose stocks are soaring quickly. A fifth-round pick out of Maryland last year, Smith is an excellent defender (he’s splitting time between shortstop and third base because Lansing also has shortstop Kevin Vicuna) who showed promising power last year, but it came with swing-and-miss risk. He’s altered his swing path, staying on plane longer with the baseball, which has result in more contact while retaining his power, with more extra-base hits (29) than strikeouts (24). (BB)
  5. Sounds like a great debate to have on a podcast
  6. Last 10 games triple slash for Vlad Jr. ... .526/.568/1.410 3 walks, 3 K. 3 HR, 9 RBI, 2 SB The bat is as ready as it will ever be
  7. It would be an increase of pitching skill from 1-5 from opposing teams. In AA he may face a teams best pitching prospect in one game but then nothing but an assortment of career minor leaguers who've never sniffed the majors in others. At least at AAA he would get a more consistent challenge
  8. Please learn the differnce between "regression" and "retrogression" before attempting to sound like you're trying to make an intelligent observation.
  9. I haven't personally used either of them but they appear to be legit not big budget options. I'd probably lean towards the Snowball
  10. Literally 0 people have decreed this. .. at least on this board
  11. Was just about to post this. Avg up to .419
  12. Looks like this series is rock bottom. Swept at home by Oakland....

    NHL Thread

The NHL gave every advantage they could to the Vegas franchise for expansion hoping to make them instantly successful. Maybe not cup Champs successful, but they've hugely benefitted from the incredibly liberal rules around expansion this time around. I have no doubt this was done intentionally to make expansion look very favourable to other cities given the massive expansion fees any new tam pays, plus they wanted to make sure their new franchise doesn't struggle like every other one in the past that just ends being a drain on the league with constant money problems in 5 years. They also lucked into one of the best head coaches in the game in Gallant after Florida went full retard
  14. Most SB are taken on the pitcher, not the catcher's arm.
  15. Wtf teoscar.... basic stuff
  16. I'm pretty sure a simulcast commentary would certainly be something you would need written consent from the Jays to do
  17. At this point I have to assume neither Buck nor Tabby actually watch the game and are really just guessing at what they hear for the most part
  18. But it was 10 damn f***ing good articles.
  19. An extreme flyball pitcher without any plus pitches or plus command doesn't project well to succeed at the majors. He's also sporting a babip against of .162 right now... which is 100% impossible to sustain. He could be a future pen guy though as his fastball/slider might play up in short stints.
  20. Yeah... i know I'm not a 3b coach, bjt when the ball is fielded in shallow left and your runner isn't at 3b.... I don't think it takes a genius baseball acumen to realize you shouldn't f***ing send him home
  21. You're not familiar with the Breaking Blue site some of us started a while back? It got one of our posters hired to the Jays afetr he developed his own new metrics
  22. I'm pretty sure this is what Buck Martinez said to the job at Rogers
