  1. The Nats are “making it known to other teams” that Harper “is indeed available,” per MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand (via Twitter). Can't really imagine there's much to this given the lack of media circus around what would easily be the biggest trade in recent history.
  2. Mariners have added Adam Warren from the Yankees and Zach Duke from Minnesota
  3. I don't think he needs to get flipped. He still has 2 more seasons of control after 2018. He could be the lucky guy who gets to be the "closer" during the re-tooling period. That said, if he is flipped for more prospects, that's fine too.
  4. Josh James and ... Corbin Martin. Pure guess
  5. If you're at all curious, you should check out his exit velo, barrel percentage and hard hit percentage. He's actually been slightly unlucky in his results so far.
  6. You shouldn't be puzzled if you looked at more than slash lines. The only correct criticism of Gurriel you've made is that he needs to walk more, which is true. A 2% walk rate is very unlikely to be favourable long term.
  7. Anything's possible, but firing Gibby as a scapegoat wouldn't make sense. The team is what it is. Old and injured. No other manager would have this team performing any better.
  8. You have an unhealthy obsession with small sample sizes. Overall, Gurriel's babip is .350 before today's game. When a hitter is cold, chances are his babip is low. When a hitter is hot, chances are his babip is high. Neither represents his true talent, which why the A in babip stands for AVERAGE. And all babip is not created equal. Hard contact has a higher percentage of falling for a hit. I'd explain the details to you but I'm sure a prodigious poker player such as yourself should be able to work out the math. And before your brain hurts, no, I'm not saying that Gurriel isn't befitting a little from babip luck, because he likely is a little overall, but to nowhere near the degree your idiotic "Gurribabip" nickname suggests. Btw, Travbabips hot July he has a babip of .370.
  9. What part of his negative defense, negative bat, negative baserunning and incredible injury history makes him an asset? I agree he had a track record from 2015 and 2016, but that's 2 full seasons ago with significant injuries in the meantime. And Gurriel is hardly a babip monster. .350 is high, but for a guy with his exit velocity, somewhere in the .320 range wouldn't be unrealistic
  10. What's disrespectful about it? Not that I don't know you're trolling your ass off...
  11. This confuses me. If he was never DFA since the start of the year he should be on the 40 man roster right now.
  12. I'm guessing they don't want him up there simply because it's likely that Drury or LG Jr might need to go down again before September and if they move Biggio up, then they'd just have to move him down again. Or, they'd just rather have him play the full year at AA, go through the playoffs and start at AAA next year. Heck, it's not like Biggio and Bo are world beating at AA like Vlad was. I don't think it's 100% clear they've both mastered the level. Though as I look at Biggio numbers.... his 3 true outcomes are sick. 2nd in HRs (21), 1st in walks(77) and 2nd in strikeouts(111) in the league. That's commitment to the program. 209 of his 407 PAs have gone to walks, Ks or homers.
  13. Well, optioning a player doesn't remove him from the 40 man roster, so he should still be there unless he had been dFA'd. Weird
  14. I dunno, if you see him for 2 seeks this year, then it's 2 more weeks you don't see him next year when his presence could actually matter, no matter how small the impact. I don't think the casuals care that much about who is playing the last two weeks of the season.
  15. He is not on the 40 man. Not sure when he was slipped through but he's not there.
  16. Man this ump is inconsistent as f***.
  17. Say what you want about Stroman, but his defense as a pitcher is top shelf.
  18. Great, ump has gone blind again, but at least he gave Grichuk one back
  19. Facing Lopez tonight should be easy. Eliminate the outer half since he can't throw his slider at all anywhere near the plate.
  20. Must not be updated. They have 41 players, 2 of whom are on the 60 day DL in Tulo and Cruz. 1 open spot
  21. Please stay healthy for the next 7 years...... Please stay healthy for the next 7 years...... Please stay healthy for the next 7 years...... Please stay healthy for the next 7 years...... Please stay healthy for the next 7 years......
  22. 3 up 3 down on weak grounders... not bad
  23. Sox are taking all the way on the first pitch so far just lay it in there
  24. I don't either. Was a pretty borderline swing that culd easily have been called strike 3, but ... still that's an early hill to die on with none out in the 1st
  25. AwfuL. Was never a strike Teoscar. Gotta let that s*** go
