  1. Looks safe to me, but a nice cup-check tag on the bag from Clement
  2. Hey, we see you've been really successful doing what youre doing so here's what we're thinking... we stop doing that, and try something else. Sound good?
  3. I dont understand the pitch mix from Varland... like, if they know everything is a breaker or offspeed really easy to lay off anything that looks borderline.
  4. Manoah threw 85 pitches today over 5.1 IP. 3 unearned runs given up in the 1st, but pretty solid from there. 6 hits 1HR, 2 walks and 5 Ks
  5. Someone get a urine test on Springer. Good lord
  6. I think the official scorer is high tonight. No way was that a single plus an error on the throw lol, throw beat Lukes by 2 steps. Straight error all day
  7. Yeah its one of those things though, its not like they're in the hunt for a playoff spot so getting someone better in his spot doesn't move the needle this year, so why not let him pitch? Counterpoint: he has truly sucked so...why pay him more money to keep sucking? In a vacuum its a totally defensible move to punt him. The fact that its the Pirates and they did the same thing with Tellez and are run by a penny-pinching cry-poor billionaire who refuses to spend money to put a solid team on the field and it becomes a pretty bad look
  8. There are no gimmie's in MLB Except for the Rockies.
  9. Well not like 96+ no but hes usually 93-95. He threw 91 that inning. Could be nothing sure
  10. Ryan's fastball velo seems down this inning.
  11. I hear ya, but... who in the pen is reliably getting hitters out right now? Based on recent past they should all be 7th on the pen depth chart
  12. to my untrained and largely small sample size limited eye.... i just don't see why they want a guy who throws 99mp to spam knuckle curves and sliders that are all within a few MPH of each other. A lot of pitching is disrupting timing, offspeed and breaking balls play up not just because of their shape, but because of the velo difference from the fastball the hitter has to protect against.
  13. Can you put this article up on every day of his starts for the rest of the season?
  14. Weirdly enough, there was a study on this not too long ago. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9047814/ What interesting in Wheeler's case is that he has venous TOS, not neurological TOS. The study only had 4 cases of venous TOS treated with decompression surgery, the rest were all neurological. but... for any TOS with decompression surgery, the recovery time until pitching in MLB again was 10 months, 80% made a full recovery, and of those who recovered they pitched 1-3 more years with no difference in post-operative performance seen vs controls. Severely limited sample size is the main limitation of the study. As far as a condition goes for MLB pitchers, it's still incredibly rare.
  15. Agree. Spamming a knuckle curve to a guy doesn't really disrupt timing very well
  16. I thought the same thing, luckily the Marlins manager didnt think the same
  17. Don't let the ump off the hook just because you dont like Hoffman.
  18. Pitches 1, 3 and 4 were strikes. Only 1 of them called. That's not on Hoffman
  19. Perhaps... my guess is it's one of those "if this was the playoffs he'd still be DHing" kind of thing and they're just being ultra cautious
