  1. Yup, and only use 3 in AAA and AA.
  2. Yeah, I think he’s trade bait for the winter though, not at the deadline. I’d be surprised if both Jansen and Teo are back next season. I could even see a Gurriel trade for the right return, though that’s far less likely
  3. Why on earth would the 1b umps opinion on a check swing from a lefty even be valid? I get the minors don’t have umps all around the diamond, so…home plate makes the call and goes with what he thinks. That said, gesturing to ump with a bat like that is just moronic.
  4. Including several takes on low and away sliders that he tends to wave at when he’s scuffling. Might be a sign that he’s finally getting locked in
  5. Who said that? I’ll slap them until they are lucky enough that I stop
  6. More horseshoe up the ass luck for the Rays when a guy who makes nearly no errors…makes an error leading to a run
  7. Wow those hats they have Jamie and Caleb wearing….wtf
  8. I was speaking more generally, not so much in the roster juggle sense. Moreno probably goes down as soon as Jansen is up so he gets more regular reps. It’s hard to imagine keeping his service clock running to catch 1 game a week and maybe DH another. The rest of the guys getting DH starts pretty much eliminates the long term 3 catcher idea when all 3 are worthy of playing time.
  9. The 30/60 would never be on the table, that’s too much. Couple things to remember here, while he is a bit of a unicorn, he doesn’t pitch a full starters schedule and doesn’t hit a full hitters schedule and really doesn’t play D when not pitching. Therefore he’s not gonna be out there putting up 12+ fWAR seasons that he would need to be to justify that 60m per year kind of deal. His overall mark would still have to be in line with dollars per WAR valuations or it wouldn’t make sense. This year, he’s at 4 fWAR at about the halfway mark. Let’s assume he keeps that pace and ends at 8 fWAR, give or take .5. Is an 8 fWAR player in line for 60 million per year?
  10. It’s not as hard as you’re making it out to be though. It’s very common for pitchers to have escalating dollar contracts based on starts, innings pitched, etc. same for hitters. Now, the entire contract couldn’t be built that way but I don’t think anyone here is suggesting that. Having a base salary of 30 million per year with escalators or bonuses based on starts wouldn’t be against any part of the CBA
  11. Jansen is trade bait for sure, regardless of what Atkins says publicly. Actually, I could see all 3 being available in the right trade since trading any one of them still leaves 6+ years of catching stability.
  12. But is he vaccinated? I wonder how bad the Jays are gonna get shafted by FAs, trades and draft picks in the coming years
  13. He’ll adjust. Recently teams have really been pounding him with breaking balls away and he will start to lay off them completely. I think he just sometimes gets stuck in “I need to be the one to get the hit” and tries to hit everything.
  14. And what a slump it was. He better be out of it now cuz that last month was looking pretty s*****. Now just need Bo and Teo to pull their heads out consistently and this team can go on a tear
  15. Well it’s about time he did something useful. Nice!
  16. Add not expecting to see Thornton throwing 97mph. When did that start?
  17. Naw, he’s cool. He had some really good weed
  18. Things I didn’t expect to see today: 1. My neighbour naked peeing on his lawn 2. Kikuchi pitching 6 innings and only giving up 1 run.
  19. I think the important message here is that the Jays have a rock solid foundation in place, and all that’s left is to grind down the rough edges, add the icing to the cake…or whatever other mixed metaphor we can come up with about the cream of the crop having already risen to separate the wheat from the chaff. Putting the finishing touches on this roster by improving the pen and bench should be all that matters at this point. Aside from true all star players, there’s not much out there that will dramatically improve the starting lineup
  20. Lol that you think it was “part time”
  21. Cmon Springer, don’t make this comeback a great big cock tease….
