  1. Lol now they’re worried about the field?
  2. Can you imagine the s*** Seattle would cry if they called the game though? Even after 8?
  3. Meh, trying to play small ball with Biggio is a waste of time especially when a moronic umpire has a strike zone as wide as the trailer he grew up in.
  4. Anything can really happen in short series, but quite honestly the Guardians scare me the least. They are dead last in virtually every metric that corresponds with offense, they are far more likely to put up 0 runs per game against other teams top pitching than they are to beat people with the stick
  5. Yeah that's just it, you have to be as good as Tony Gwynn and Ichiro at slapping the ball around for that kind of style to be useful. I get into verbal sparring matches all the time with dumbasses about that kind of thing. "Well they could have hit HRs if they wanted to"... ********. Or they would have. No hitter in the world is slapping singles around IF he had the ability to hit HR's consistantly. "All they have to do to beat the shift is slap the ball the other way. They never shifted Tony Gwynn!" ... yup. All you have to do is have the hand eye and talent of a hall of fame player to put the ball wherever you want whenever you want... and Oh, he still failed at it 65 times out of 100. So easy!!!!!
  6. Yeah, it's a fun name and when you hear it you'll even think it's stupid for bringing it up because nothing in his career would even suggest steroids. Until you look at the numbers I posted because those are always the types of things people point to to support steoird allegations. Late career power surges. In this guy's case, his avs HR's per year were 6, then in the last 3 years of his career was about 15. So when I talk to people about steroids and how they use power bumps and late 30's surges... etc, I always bring up those previous numbers without telling them the actual totals ... and so far, every single person has said the player was definitely on steroids. Oh, and it's Tony Gwynn
  7. To me the answer is no. To get a blockbuster deal, you need to show you're a consistant blockbuster player. He hasn't really shown that consistency. Has all the talent, but if im paying that much, i want to see that talent more than just 1 season. I might be in the Matt Olson type of contract range right now though I wouldnt be super happy about it. I wouldnt be touching 30 million per season for 10 years.
  8. It's a hard question to answer... is it better to have all of Manoah/Gausman/Strip/Berrios available pitching in Seattle.... or Gausman/Strip/Berrios at home with maybe Manoah out of the pen in a game 3 if necessary, even if only for 2-3 innings.
  9. There's a guy nobody ever talks about, who at age 37, 38 and 39 saw a massive power bump right in the midst of the Sosa/McGwire thing, and there was never a peep about him either. He hit nearly 30 % of his career HR totals in those 3 seasons. In the 15 seasons prior his SLG was .440, in the age 37-39 seasons it was .513 1 HR for every 93 PA for 15 seasons, then suddenly it was 1 HR for every 34 PA at age 37-39. Never gets mentioned as a possible user.
  10. Yeah Buck, Tapia has been such an important part of the team….he’s a replacement level scrub. He doesn’t mean s***
  11. He needs a third pitch for each handed hitter. and one of the three has to become a reliable swing and miss offering. He throws 3 pitches now, fastball curve and slider, but he basically eliminates one of the breaking balls against righties(curve) and the other(slider) against lefties. His slider is nasty against righties though, but his curve gets very few misses against lefties. For my money, dude needs a changeup.
  12. What the f*** kind of call is that? It wasn’t even close …clearly out
  13. Lol. Just further evidence Arte Moreno has no idea what he is doing.
  14. when Bo is selective at the plate he's just amazing
  15. Not a single pitch in the strike zone... strikeout. Vlad is just way to eager to swing. I'll give the pitcher the first pitch as it was a nasty curve that looked meaty and disappeared, but every pitch since then was something he should have easily been able to spit on
  16. This is a good move for everyone. Buck gets to focus on his health, and fans don't have to listen to baseball talk from 50 years ago like it's still relevant. Win/Win.
  17. September 1st has never been a cutoff for rookie status as far as I know, but previously may not have counted towards service time accumulation for September callups.
  18. Ive seen estimated values of the hypothetical 62n HR to be anywhere from 1-5 million. Who knows really? McGwires record breaker sold for about 3 million way back when, but is now valued far less. Whomever catches this ball should absolutely hold out for at least a few months, let the market heat up a bit and then sell.
  19. 100% Zimmer. Playoff baseball is all about the short game, not the long game. Putting key 1 or 2 dimensional players into very specific situations happens all the time in short series. Zimmer is an excellent baserunner and probably the best outfield defender on the team. As long as all they use him for is pinch running and OF defense late in games he has a ton of value.
  20. Romo.... jesus f***ing christ
  21. As far as baserunning goes... yeah Toronto is like bottom 4 in the MLB. Thing is, 3 of the top 4 teams aren't even playoff teams. Baserunning is a good thing to be good at, but if your offense as a whole sucks it doesnt really matter that much. However, if you already have a great offence like the Jays, every baserunning blunder is magnified since youre taking outs off the board with hitters in the box that can do damage.
  22. Damn. even more embarrassing getting thrown out by Hicks.
  23. Francona's team isn't full of low baseball IQ morons.
