I'd love to see Varsho trim that K rate a bit and take a few more walks, but there's nothing really to hate in his batted ball metrics. Jays now have 3 CFs in the OF with Merrifield/Biggio as the defacto backups when they're not playing the infield.

Meh, if you really look at all the Mets spending, all they did was re-sign their own players, replace DeGrom with Verlander and add Correa. Virtually the only thing that will actually improve the team is the Correa signing. The rest was just to maintain what he already had. There's also very little chance he spends like this every offseason. Even so, I hate owners that pretend to be poor. They're all multi-billionaires, every single one of them could spend more if they wanted to, every single franchise is worth 1 billion dollars or more and has increased in value steadily over the past 20 years. (minor nitpick, the Marlins are valued at 990 million... close enough). Every single team just got 30 million each from MLB's sale of its remaining 15-percent stake in BAMTech, a streaming technology service group, to Disney for $900 million. So any team that chose not to increase payrolls by even 10 million dollars this year, and whine about another owner spending more money, can kindly shut the f*** up.

Sexual assault refers to a range of behaviors, including a completed nonconsensual sex act, an attempted nonconsensual sex act, and/or nonconsensual sexual contact. Lack of consent is inferred when a person uses force, harassment, threat of force, threat of adverse personnel or disciplinary action, or other coercion, or when the victim is asleep, incapacitated, unconscious or legally incapable of consent. Just for the sake of argument: Springer's first 3 nearly complete seasons he was 3.9, 4.6 and 4.7 fWAR ..... Reynolds 3.4, 6.1, 2.9 (excluding 2020 for obvious reasons) - they're nearly identical in terms of overall value. If your contention is that Reynolds won't continue on the same arc as Springer did after those seasons, well, maybe, but Springer only averaged slightly over 3.5 fWAR (injury issues contributed for sure) per season up till now after those 3 years I mentioned.

Can say that for nearly every rotation in baseball, that if one of the top 3 goes down, some random #5 who may or may not be any good takes the spot. Side note, I'm not overly high on White either, I see a 2 pitch pony that needs a changeup in the worst way.

I dispute that anyone thought Ryu would return to form, most were probably pretty much done with him and were only saw Manoah Gausman and Berrios as solid, Kikuchi was still the wildcard. I would argue the pitching overall is decidedly better than last year as a whole, though not like magnitudes better.

Whomever replaced whomever, really isnt all that important. Point is the starting 3 are solid AF, #4 could easily return to his #2-3 form and #5 is a wildcard with several options behind him already not to mention the minor league deals we'll still probably see before spring training.

I'd still be reaaaaaly tempted to try and pry Reynolds out of Pittsburgh, even if it did cost Tiedemann+, though I'm not sure how high I would want that + to be . His addition would just put the outfield in a perfect spot, hell he could even play left field and the Jays would have 3 CF's playing the OF.

I dont think his SLG is in any way reflective of playing in MiLB parks or MLB parks, his SLG sucks when he's beating balls into the ground vs getting them in the air.

Sure, but all those who think projections are useless basically take the default position of " player X (in this case Kikuchi) sucked last year so he will surely suck this year, and player Y(say Miley) who was better than player X last year, must therefore also be better than player X this year"

Largely, they'll be using in-house proprietary systems for their projections that we have 0 access to. You make it sound like they just grab guys and hope they are good. They're using the same systems that told them Ray was a great gamble at the right price, Matz was a good proespective option, etc etc. No, that doesnt mean that every pitcher they grab will live up to their projections. No, it's not perfect, nobody claims it is. No, just because it's not perfect doesnt mean it's useless.

Left handed hitting OF would be the preferred target.

Nope. Just saying you’re using an example where it was demonstrated by the people in the f***ing movie that it was not okay nor tolerated, so using it as some sort of “what if” pertaining to the Jays is stupid. It wasn’t okay then and it wouldn’t be okay now. It’s also a drastically different situation than joking around in the dugout while losing a game. Their team was on the middle of a terrible season, last season the Jays were in the playoffs with 90 plus wins and were on a tear in the second half after replacing Bongo boy.

Ask any professional athlete in a team sport, they’ll tell you leadership and accountability is far more effective coming from other players, not a manager or coach

Personally I think they should all head for the nearest bridge and off themselves after a loss. If they can’t go 162-0 they obviously don’t care enough
