    Industry apparently sees Parker as a 3b by the time he gets to the big leagues.

    Though not the worst possible outcome...oddly enough. I think it would be worse if he was healthy and just hitting like garbage like Vlad. At least this way he's out of sight, out of mind and some other guy gets a shot to cover at least some of the projected offensive output.

    Likely done for the year even though it hasnt been officially annnounced. He had some discomfort in the shoukder while rehabning and had a second cortisone injection in July. Has not resumed hitting activities yet as far as I know which pretty much puts him out for the year when you consider the ramp up he would need.

    Yes, Kirk looks he is finally bringing things back to where his expectations are with the bat, Springer's swimg metrics are back to where they were last season and the results have follwoed. Okomoto is solid enough if not spectacular. It really is about Vlad getting hot to give this team the shot in the arm offensively

    Good question, but I dont think the Jays took him in rule 5 with the goal of making him a pen arm, but ratyer they knew they had to put him there in 2026 to build up his innings and thats really the only place he could be for an entire season. With the ability to option him as of next season, my guess is they stick him in Buffalo as a starter and see how the arm holds up with a starters workload and be in the 6-8 range on the SP depth chart. Ponce isnt fighting for a spot, he's one of their top 5 assuming his knee is healthy. Arrighetti is probably the defacto #5 right now with Bloss, Estrada, Dallas, Van Eyk etc fighting for depth relevance along with any other offseason acquisitions. Bowden Francis had TJ in Feb so his recovery would put him on track to return at some point. Berrios as well though he's likely after the AS break given his May surgery

    Pen maybe? Theres a hole with Hoffman gone and maybe theres a chance he can add a tick or two.back to the fastball in the pen. Slider is still decent. Not to suggest hed be high leverage, he'd probably be the defacto long man but yeah, rotation is kinda full. He's probably in'scherzer'ance.

    Also happy to have been wrong. Can't see any reason to be upset over this deadline other than the fact it was necessary sells due to garbage underperformance by key players that sunk the season to this point. One could argue the team has actually improved, though that's a bit of a reach. But there's still a chance they go on a run a squeak in

    I dont this trade has anything to do with Atkins being a buyer or seller for this season... he saw he has a hole in his rotation for 2027 and 2028 and found a way to fill that hole and its just happened to be at this deadline when a guy they wanted came available. Cease, Yesavage and Ponce were the only slam dunk rotation arms for next season. He has 4 solid arms now and options like Miles, Stanifer, Bloss, Berrios, and any other off season acquistions to fill the #5 role.

    Its also coloured (in my case) by the fact that the guys who are supposed to hit the ball out of the park on a regular-ish basis (Vlad, Varsho, Santander) are all nothing burgers this year when it comes to the power output. Essentially makes it a slap hitting 3 hit minimum to score 1 run lineup which just doesn't work consistently. Scoring 4+ runs per game long term just doesnt happen without some HR output to carry the run production when babip whims go bad.

    Feels like this is probablt something Atkins has been working on and massaging for a while. No way something like this just comes together with 1 phone call on deadline day

    One thing we can say about this trade... nobody saw it coming from Atkins. Soriano being moved...sure. But to Toronto? After the Gausman trade? Wonder how the reaction would be if the Soriano trade came first... OMG we're buying??? STUPID ATKINS!!! OMG he traded Gausman AFTER getting Soriano? STUPID ATKINS!!!

    Micheletti is a good stopgap type of player that will probably hold down a bench spot. Org managers he's played for loved him for his attitude and ability to get more results than his tools suggest he should.

    Thats pretty much exactly what i said, just in different words. I felt Nimmala was being underrated by the scouting community but, hey, no point worrying about that now.

    Its kinda the prototypical Atkins move, trade for a guy that can help in 2 future years before the need arises. Not saying it's a great move eitehr, im kinda luke-warm on it, but this is pretty much the pitching equivalent of the Varsho trade

    Ah, so from the perspective that youre not as worried about trading a potential blue chip SS because you have a possible blue chip 3b still. Yeah, I guess.

    Varsho isnt a 20 million AAV value if he can't hit for power. The defense will slide over the next 4 years given his injury history (most likely) and could fall into average territory sooner rather than later especially given the arm issues.

    Baseball world must really love Parker's toolset if they rank him higher than a guy who will actually stick at SS defensively and is 2 levels higher while only 9 months older. Is Nimmala being underrated here?
