    Probably seeing more of this these days because of the inherent injury risks, but I'm sure they're also metrics beyond public stuff to really feel like they are ready for the jump. The reason I think this is reinforced by the TJ Brock promotion recently - TJ Brock (23 yo): 20.1 IP, 13.72 K/9, 3.98 BB/9, xFIP 3.39, ERA 1.77 So decent numbers but is 4 BB/9 really all that impressive? Not really, so there must be other things in play.

    I thnk the thing I remember most about Zaun, was one day after his career was over and he was commentating about something, he went on some long rant about catchers and advanced stats (not statcast stuff this was before that) and how useless they were for evaluating catchers... Then i sorted the leaderboards on fangraphs for all the stats he mentioned and he like top 5 in catchers for all of them. THen I stopped listening to Zaun as anything more than a mascot.

    Nah, most fans dont think things normalize after 3 PAs, but they sure think skills disappear after 1 or 2.

    Just sayin, I can honestly only count …3-5 times this season where the move was questionable. The rest is just pitchers throwing like trash. This reputation of him constantly making bad pitching moves is still mostly just leftover vitriol from 2022

    Can make all the right calls in the world, if your pitchers come in and just can’t throw strikes and just hit batters and give up HRs …what can ya do? Can’t run Mayza and Romano out every night. Even Swanson has started walking the planet lately.

    Lol, ump is blind as f*** against Biggio there. 3 bad calls in one PA. Hard to really fault him for striking out looking there

    That might be Merrifields first time caught stealing 3rd in the last 3 years.... bad timing I get the thought process, dude is having a rough inning, you think he will so focused on the hitter you can get a giant leap on him... just sucks to take the foot off his neck.

    Houser is the kind of guy you can hit and run on more often. He doesnt whiff many guys, lots of contact will be on the ground.
