  1. This. Swing and miss problem was identified and fixed, but in its place they now have a HR giving up problem. Bunch of guys with 1 elite pitch that get roasted when they make even the slightest mistake.
  2. I think Atkins record on signings and retaining is actually pretty good overall. He pulled lots of wizardry early on in his tenure that most people forget now, like trading Drew Hutchison for 3 guys, including Liriano who was great for them, then traded before he fully pumpkined for a hound Teoscar. The Matz trade, the Giles trade, Robbie Ray trade, even that half season acquiring of Taijuan Walker. He’s also been pretty good at letting guys go rather than hanging on or resigning guys getting past their expiry dates. I’d argue hits hits have outweighed his misses by a fair margin in the process of building the current team. His challenge and struggle has been putting the finishing touches on the build. Pretty much the same problem AA had before he left. The building process went great, then the finishing process flopped.
  3. Hicks finally DFA by the Yankees. They traded for Greg Allen back from the Red Sox and punted Hicks
  4. Catcher probably tipped the batter in Japanese what pitch was coming. Bauer is being Nuke RaRooshed.
  5. Yeah, and clearly he sucks at his job. It’s Dave Hudgens.
  6. Well, it’s pretty much time to push all the chips in for him. This season plus 2 more of Vlad and Bo, so aside from Tiedemann my guess is every prospect is in play to try and land a couple legit arms for the pen and some solid bench depth. As it stands now, the rotation as it is now is fully intact until the end of 2024. That’s why I’m thinking he gets until end of that season before he’d be canned.
  7. Found a vid from Kirk’s rookie ball days dancing to the batters walk up music. https://www.tiktok.com/@espnatbat/video/7233594814732963118
  8. He’s under contract until the end of the 2026 season. Think they’d turf him with 3 years to go? Maybe. Though I think end of 2024 is more realistic if the don’t make a couple of deep runs in the playoffs this year and next.
  9. The cupboard is thin that’s for sure.
  10. It’s a slip of the mind, s*** happens. Sam thing happened to Mattingly years ago except he made two trips to the mound himself between 1 pitch and the second trip was entirely accidental.
  11. Pitchers break alarmingly often, so it’s usually smarter to keep them around just in case. But yeah, Thompson isn’t anyone to worry about losing either Honestly I’m just bored, the entire topic probably isn’t worth the thought we’ve already given it
  12. Managers probably ask this regularly in some way or another whether they have made a decision or not just to see what the guys body language is when they give an answer. Hell, we saw Schneider leave his starter in last week after coming out to the mound and it worked out just fine.
  13. Well, the only DFA options are Jimenez, Horwitz, Heinemen, Orelvis, Lopez and Barger if we assume the don’t want to punt any arms, which they shouldn’t. As much as Biggio has sucked, he’s not getting DFA but should absolutely be headed to Buffalo for a while just to get his head straight. Orelvis and Barger would be idiotic to cut, and Heineman is our fat catcher insurance. Pretty much leaves Lopez, Jimenez and Horwitz to get the axe if they wanted Clement up. Lopez would be silly to cut even with his current struggles, Horwitz…if he develops even average power could actually be useful. Jimenez would make the most sense honestly. They’re probably just gonna bring up Lopez and sit him the entire time and maybe use him as a pinch runner occasionally.
  14. Probably, but is a guy who’s only skill is defense really all that much to lose sleep about? Actually f*** that, Tampa would take him and turn him into Wander Franco with the bat with Ozzie Smith defense in a month.
  15. But but but…bunting is small ball and small ball takes skill and stuff and ….reasons.
  16. Oh and of course there was this one time that Mattingly had to remove his own pitcher when he didn’t want to when he went to the mound himself twice in the same inning on an even dumber gaff, so I guess Don is out as his replacement. Can’t hire a guy as a manager who would do something so dumb… Gonna have to let Walker take over I guess.
  17. I get there’s some venting happening here but there is 0 chance Schneider gets canned right now unless the Jays go on some weird ass streak that sees them dump 20 out of 25 games or something. I’d be okay with during the hitting strategist coach though, whatever the f*** that position is meant to do its failing.
  18. Well, I mean they could DFA Leo Jimenez or something, easily the biggest limp noodle bat in the system. He makes Espinal look like Barry Bonds
  19. Possible, but would require someone getting DFAd or outrighted. Clement is on a minor league deal.
  20. That’s what it took for Baltimore to be good. You willing to watch .290 - .463 baseball for 5 years straight in order to maybe get lucky and draft a few studs that all might come up at the same time? I doubt it.
  21. Look at that…2 runs scored and not a single runner in scoring position.
  22. Springer dinger! And nobody rejoices….
  23. I’m out, gonna go back down to the Canada college World Series for a bit
  24. Sure, but those are already good hitters. They don’t hit any better with RISP (generally) than they do without except for the average gain seen by nearly every hitter. Even the average mlb hitter hits better with RISP than they do without. Hitting with RISP is also a massive series of tiny sample sizes with huge variances on the outcomes based on a shitload of variables.
