  1. Lol, knew the kids were gonna complain about Gausman out if Pearson sucked.
  2. There’s the Teo defense we all don’t miss.
  3. Varsho’s exit velos today.. 106.4 100.3 100.6 107.9
  4. So i guess every reply is going to be from the drone cam from now on?
  5. Absolutely, Julio has a lot of tools, but the arm accuracy is not one of them. Throw did beat him, but was well offline
  6. I'm happy to see a double, but that's exactly the kind of pitch that should have been murdered into the LF stands.
  7. Good morning, good afternoon and goodnight. Mariners waiting for them meatballs and not missing them
  8. Gausman just lollipopping fastballs in there for some reason. I know he takes velo off intentionally sometimes, but this is really weird.
  9. This ump is why framing numbers for catchers are so... interesting.
  10. Bo's timing is just a little off the past 2 weeks or so.
  11. This ump is smoking the good s***, we need some of that. Someone is gonna get tossed today for sure
  12. This game gonne end up 1-0 with this umps strike zone.
  13. It's always easy to say in hindsight that "you would have lived with it" when you know the alternative outcome.
  14. True enough, never know if he can handle it without letting him do it, but at the same time, bringing in your best relief arms is hard to criticize when you're up by 2 and trying to win. Not walking Teo was probably the only move I saw last night that I was really questioning. And even that... Teo sucks against sliders and it's not like Romano doesn't have a great one, so the line of thinking there is easy to see that Romano matches up good against Teo. But when you have an open base and can set up a force anywhere AND pitch a worse hitter, that seems like a no brainer to me. We've even seen that same thing done by other managers against Vlad this season, letting him hit with 1 or 2 outs and an open base with runners on 1st and second.
  15. AA probably has his own section in the MLBPA handbook for players to read on how NOT to negotiate contracts.
  16. I hate seeing guys who think they suddenly need to "bulk up". Sure, you might need to get stronger and add muscle, but ya gotta do it right for your sport. Muscle building for pitchers vs position players is very different, and overall very different from MLB to other sports.
  17. Scoring any runs with Gausman on the mound would be a treat. 5th worst run support in MLB among starters with 15 starts - 3.21 runs
  18. It's a no win scenario for the manager. Had Kikuchi come in and given up a single and a 2 run homer(which would realistically surprise nobody), the same people complaining about the pen usage yesterday would be whining about how Schneider should have been taken him out since the numbers say he's always worse third time through.
  19. Here’s hoping they can get those walks under control.
  20. After which, you just know he would hit 50 HRs and look like vintage Pujols, just because.
  21. Simple answer to your question that you're overthinking by still talking about spray angle. If Soto walks that much more, he's putting far fewer balls in play than Vlad is. All those extra murdered baseball that Vlad is putting into play vs the fewer walks is making up that difference in xwOBA. Vlad has 54 more balls in play than Soto. Walks only get you 1 base. 54 balls in play at those elite velos are probably worth about the same in xwOBA as 100 walks. Elite walk rates though would make an xwOBA fluctuate less and be closer to actual wOBA though. And yes, Tom was answering questions that werent being asked, because people were asking questions (myself included) that were not actually asking the questions designed to get the answers we thought we were looking for. He provided the alternate viewpoint and provided the real answer, not the answer to the wrong question.
  22. Kirky with a jack! And nobody picked.
  23. xwOBA, not xOBA You're adding in spray angle to your perception of what xwOBA should be. xwOBA doesnt do that because doing so more decribes the play, not the player.
