  1. So did all the pitching moves meet with all the armchair managers approval today?
  2. I guess the only thing really holding him back would be the lack of clear playing time. Like, you really wouldnt want to call him up to be a bench guy... Merrifield has seized the everyday utility role, and nobody is hurt. Is Schneider all that useful taking 10 ABs per week? Maybe the only clear path to playing time is them putting Merrifield in LF consistently, shifting Varsho to the bench and starting Schneider at 2b every day.
  3. What would a return for White even be? I wouldnt even fill a team's Coke machine for the rest of the season for him.
  4. Thornton was 29 year old org filler. By my count we just gained 1 year. Clear win by Atkins
  5. That's a pretty dumn hypothetical.
  6. July 26 Bichette - 1 Point Vladdy 1 Point - Dylan, JohnHavok Springer - 2 Points - Jonn Belt - 2 Points Chapman - 3 Points Jansen - 3 Points - Spanky, Varsho - 4 Points Biggio - 5 Points Merrifield - 6 Points Off the bench: 10 Points
  7. Well sure the upside is higher with Anderson, but ... with that money on there, it's too much to pay for hoping for the bounce back. As Brownie pointed out, if the white sox ate a sizeable portion of the deal and got it down to around 5 million or so... I can see that being somewhat worth it, but at that point I think i'd rather see what Barger or Schneifer have to offer.
  8. I havent seen much change to his swing other than it's a little more controlled with better swing decisions. He still wants to murder every ball that comes his way but he's laying off the ones that give him bad results far more often.
  9. K rate isn't spiking though so that's a good indicator.
  10. Board has issues sometimes with double posts. im sure he saw it
  11. Barger heating up nicely in July .292/.387/.538/.925 in 65 AB (75 PA) 3 HR, 7 doubles. 10 walks, 14 K Davis Schneider also at another level in July .294/.507/.588/1.095 51 AB (72 PA) 21 walks, 14 K, 3 doubles 4 HR And then there's Horwitz in July ... .417/.493/.767/1.260 60 AB (71 PA) 11 walks, 9 K, 5 HR, 4 doubles, 1 triple.
  12. .882 is the OPS and he's 21. I wouldn't put any labels on him yet other than... who knows? Wasn't a top 50 international ranking, but came out of Cuba.
  13. I dont see any reason to seek out paying 14 million dollars for a dead cat bounce situation. We can get the same kind of hope from Espinal for peanuts.
  14. Anyone think Hader might be available from the Padres or is Preller still irrationally holding out hope for a wildcard?
  15. You forgot they are 2nd in LOB rate and only 2nd by 0.1 % There will always be complaints when negative things occur in clusters. Pen could be stellar for weeks at a time, but when a stretch like this happens, pen = bad. White can’t be DFA soon enough though. Bring on Green
  16. Could be on either side really. Stuff like this is why I hate the slot system
  17. July 25 (10:10pm) Bichette - 1 Point - Dylan, LTBF Vladdy - 1 Point - JaysAllMighty Belt - 2 Points - Omar, WryNGinger Chapman - 3 Points - JohnHavok Kirk - 5 Points - Merrifield - 6 Points - Jonn Kiermaier - 7 Points - Espinal - 7 Points - Luplow - 8 Points - Off the bench: 10 Points -
  18. he got 4500 over slot. Way to stick it out till the end for 4500 bucks.
  19. I think if anyone was trding for him it would be with the plan to decline that option in any case. 111 wRC+ against lefties this season, 132 career. Cheap acquisition to be sure, but not sure he would be what they'd be looking for as a true lefty killing threat.
  20. Cardinals and Hicks nearing a contract extension reports Katie Woo of the Athletic. Woo suggests there’s a good chance a deal can be finalized within the next day. That pretty much takes him off the trade market.
  21. I think youre %s on the 3-4 WAR and even 2-3 WAR SP are high. It's probably closer to 1% and 5%
  22. There's a decent argument for the jays to trade for him, but it's so far out of the realm of possibility it's not really worth discussing.
  23. There's a very tiny chance, but I'd rather just see him air it out in the pen and focus on either the curve or slider.
  24. Arte Moreno has entered the chat.
  25. Kike Hernandez traded to the Dodgers. The Sox are receiving Nick Robertson and Justin Hagenman, tweets Jeff Passan of ESPN. Boston will pay down $2.5MM of Hernandez’s salary
