  1. Nice to see my personal troll came to the new forum. Ackley didn't have the necessary skills to perform well in the outfield and they tried it anyways. It was a disaster over a decent sample size, there's no logic in continuing to pursue a fruitless venture. There are teams that value Ackley as a 2B and the Mariners could fill more pressing needs with what they get back.
  2. They presumably gathered more medical data as a trade became a realistic possibility.
  3. He was so, so bad in the outfield last year, it's hard to believe they would try that experiment again. He has below average speed, instincts, and arm. The Mariners are just an incredibly stupid organization.
  4. I have a hard time figuring out how a Janssen/Santos for Ackley framework doesn't make a ridiculous amount of sense for both sides.
  5. Burnett, Jimenez, Santana, Arroyo....Yoon?....and?
  6. I guess the takeaway messages from this are: 1. We aren't satisfied with Ryan Goins at 2B 2. We may have in excess of 20 milllion available to spend.
  7. Ugh, every time I hear Guerrieri it brings me back to when we took Beede over him and Swihart. I've never been so upset about a draft pick.
  8. When I talk about players of Stroman's size, I do NOT include taller players like Lincecum and Pedro. You all know this, you just don't have a good counter to my argument that over 100+ years of baseball, Tom Phoebus is the only starter that short to have any kind of success, and it wasn't that much.
  9. There are at least a few people, including myself, that are in favour of the high rankings for players with strong defense. It shouldn't have anything to do with fantasy.
  10. I'm certainly not ignoring the strikeouts if that's what you think. There are 2 points to remember, however. 1. He's 20 years old in AA and is a very patient and selective hitter. I don't see a sub 20 K% or anything, but he has plenty of time to work on his approach. 2. Sano is the rare player that can hit .250 and win an MVP, his power stroke is that impressive.
  11. I do like the rankings for Lindor and Hedges, Mayo basically ignored their defensive contributions, as was mentioned.
  12. I fail to see why this list shouldn't be open to well thought out criticism. I provided my scouting reports based on firsthand observation and the reports of others. I'm quite certain that Sano will be higher and Stroman will be lower on BA's list. They have had similar comments to mine throughout the year.
  13. His arm has never been a problem, even at shortstop. That's a lazy comparison. He's got soft hands and a strong arm, that's all Troy Glaus ever needed. It's not necessary for him to be a gold glover with 80 grade raw power.
  14. I've made my thoughts clear on Stroman. Numerous small starters have come and gone in the top 50 of prospect lists and Tom Phoebus and Tom Gordon remain the only ones as small as Stroman to have any success. I think big league hitters will be about to square up his stuff and hit for power, especially after a turn or two through the batting order. He needs to develop more downward movement and improve his command or else he remains in the 50-60 range on my list.
  15. Sano has the best power stroke in the minor leagues, once in a decade type stuff. He's improved enough to erase any questions about him remaining at third. He walks a ton and for starting at AA at age 20, the K's really aren't that concerning. I know there's an injury concern, but he's 3-4 years ahead of the normal development curve. Not to overstate things, but we're talking a guy who could legitimately put up Eddie Mathews type numbers and he's behind a guy who a lot of scouts think will end up as a reliever (Ventura). That's absurd.
  16. That's supposed to be a compliment? It really doesn't look better in some respects. He's got as many guys way off like Sano and Taillon as Mayo did with guys like Lindor.
  17. I didn't say anything about professional scouts, this guy makes ridiculous lists in his moms basement so he can point to the 2 or 3 he got right in later years. BA and Sickels will be in relatively close agreement with my list, usually are.
  18. Lol @ the Sano, Taillon, Polanco, and Stroman rankings. I'm going to have a field day in the BBDL draft if anyone takes this seriously.

How does everyone in this thread not know how to spell Turkoglu?

Who is this guy and what did he do with Terrence Ross? On pace for a 50 point effort.
  21. Hard to go wrong when you have the best in the business , Jerry Howarth, doing half of the innings. I'm sure they'll bring in someone decent.
  22. It's not a minor league contract.
  23. You're not going to get any extra wins with both he and Rasmus facing lefties. We also have one at DH, just not a good fit.
  24. A left handed hitting outfielder isn't exactly the best fit for us.
