    I guess the importance of playing good D is lost on this forum. Cecil has a decent 3.49 xFIP, but we continue to blame him for all of our other issues. I give up.

    He should have gotten the batter to hit that weak grounder to another fielder. What was he thinking!

    In what world did Cecil not do his job? He got what should have been 3 consecutive outs and looked good doing it. Everytime you stretch your pitchers with continued defensive lapses, you expect the other team to take advantage eventually and that's what happened in all 3 of these games. It's unacceptable. We can get by with a pitching slump or hitting slump, but not being focused and missing routine plays will kill us.

    He was tasked with getting 3 outs and got them. Our defense throughout this series has been the cause of our problems, not the pitching.

    Maybe it's just me, but when you put in your defensive specialist at SS, it's reasonable for a manager to expect decent D.

    He doesn't make it to the plate and we probably sweep this series if acceptable defense is played for the 3 games. I'm not even talking great, just acceptable.

    It's time to demote Goins and bring up Andy Burns. He's already enough of a liability when he's not committing critical errors in consecutive games. Unacceptable.
