This is a new one: Esteban Loaiza, drug kingpin.
The second-winningest pitcher from Mexico in MLB history was arrested Friday with 20 kilos of heroin or cocaine, according to San Diego police records. He'll be in court Wednesday to face felony drug charges.
With the price of relief arms on the market, I think we gave up far too much. Leone is coming off of a great season and Greene has the potential to be a dominant relief arm. Grichuk is barely a starting calibre outfielder, if at all, in my opinion.
I think I'll be going to Detroit for my yearly Jays road trip. The viewing experience keeps getting worse and worse at the RC. I get why they had to do it, but it's unfortunate that fans don't pay attention at games.
Add in a low risk bat like Carlos Gonzalez and I'd call that a pretty successful offseason on the offensive side of things. I'd still like to add a SP or two and tinker with the bullpen.
So they received multiple complaints about a previously unknown issue, conducted a fair and thorough investigation, and fired Zaun all in a span of 4 days (or less)? Very impressive PR work from Sportsnet.
How about we bring back Rance Mulliniks? He had good chemistry with Jamie.
Rays are expected to non-tender Brad Miller if they can't find a trade partner for his 4.4 million salary. I believe the bat will return to acceptable levels, but he's a question mark on defense. The lefty bat and ability to play 2B/OF are intriguing to me.
MLBTR implies that they are considering a non-tender for Fiers.

The Astros are offering up Mike Fiers and his projected 5.7 mil salary for a bag of balls. He saw a spike in home runs last year, but is otherwise relatively unchanged from past years. I prefer him to most of the backend starters on the FA market and at that salary, he would also be a suitable long man in the bullpen. Thoughts?
So if I'm understanding this correctly then we can go after the Braves prospects using next year's pool, thereby not impacting our available money for Otani.
I'm on the fence about it, but won't be upset if they tender him. He looked good in the 17 inning sample here, but still had a FIP over 6 for the season. I wonder if we could non-tender and re-sign him for less.
