  1. I wonder if a team has ever failed to win a 4 game series in which their starters didn't give up a run. Embarrassing.
  2. Kyle Drabek and Ricky Romero. I couldn't stand watching them pitch. Brevin Mencherson lol
  3. Juan Rivera just reminded of of that amazing trade with the Angels. I couldn't really hate him.
  4. A couple of horrible pitching staffs going at it. I'm looking forward to facing both this year. Hopefully our pitching is up to the task.
  5. Why is that? He put together a pretty solid season for us. Then he signed a bigger contract with the Orioles and sucked. Sounds like a success to me.
  6. He looked really good when we saw him there last year. Hopefully his bat can match the defense.
  7. Wow our bats are incredibly inept. Moore is giving them some hittable pitches and we are either missing them or swinging at bad ones.
  8. I think I like this Trent Thornton kid.
  9. It's a real pleasure to see Aaron Sanchez with a great start to begin the year. The stuff is still there so I'm hoping we see more of the 2017 version.
  10. My saying that prospects will develop better on winning teams kind of implies that they will also do worse on losing teams. That's not me changing my claim, they go hand in hand.
  11. I'm certain that there would be a positive correlation between winning and prospect success if you were able to account for playing time. That seems so obvious.
  12. Just tuned in. Our starters sure are killing it this year. Hopefully it will be a team strength this year.
  13. So there is no input from coaches, development programs, or teammates? A player is what he is on any team and nothing can change it.
  14. Whatever floats your boat, Jim. This stuff is all clearly predetermined by your god before a player is even drafted.
  15. On the whole, yes I think players would develop better on a great team like the Yankees than a crappy team. Look at all of the great prospects that came up through the 90's and 2000's Pirates for example. I think part of it was scouting, but a lot of times they got the right guys and they just came into that losing culture and didn't develop properly. Would Derek Jeter be what he was on the Pirates? I have my doubts. In short, no I don't believe that prospect development is completely independent of the team. I think that winning and winning soon will help in the development of Vlad and Bo.
  16. Alright Jim, you must be right. Young players will clearly develop better on crappy teams. They obviously have superior coaching and development teams to allow them to lose so many games.
  17. We call those exceptions in the real world.
  18. You say that you want them to fail for a variety of reasons and you have said it many times. To each their own, but your version of fandom has always been a strange one.
  19. You want the team to be s*****, I get it. I want to see as many wins as possible without any long term deals and upgrading the bullpen is the best way to do that. It's not even that we signed bad relievers. We didn't have enough warm bodies to fill the 'pen and we made some stupid panic signing to make up for it. The FO made a mistake by not adding appropriate depth (which was available for cheap) and they should be called out for it. Guerra and Hudson have no business bring on a MLB team. If it were a guy with some potential then there wouldn't be an issue.
  20. You openly hope that the team fails over and over again. The best possible thing for this team would be winning season where the young guys develop. Losing 90 games will just put us into a never ending cycle of mediocrity. Young players don't develop well on s***** teams.
  21. I can't understand why people who hate the team so much even watch the games.
  22. Reliever injuries and poor performances are so unlikely. I don't know how they could have seen this coming. Also, we were projected for something like 77 wins. Adding a win or two for 3 or 4 million was hardly a bad idea. Winning is always important in MLB because the draft is so volatile.
  23. I listed a lot of names so that someone wouldn't get stuck on that point. There were a lot of good relievers available for cheap and some would sign here. We surely could have retained Tyler Clippard for example. I just don't understand what the front office was thinking. They got caught with their pants down and had to offer Hudson a major league deal when he had originally signed a minor league deal and got released because he sucks.
  24. I know it is garbage, but we ignored guys like Adam Warren and Sergio Romo when they could have been had for the same price as Daniel Hudson. Why is Pannone the lefty out of the pen? Loup was still out there or guys like Duke or Diekman. I'm just baffled as to why they ignored the most obvious weak spot on the team. It could have been addressed cheaply and not block any young players.
