  1. You just called me a welcher, actually. I have been here longer than you, made bets here and always paid up. I'm not going to destroy my reputation for 10 bucks, it's just fun. I'll take your bet if you wish to accept. Minimum 400 AB's for DSJ, McKinney, and Hernandez.
  2. The offer has been made. Will you back up your statement?
  3. Joey Votto hit the first pop up to 1B of his entire career tonight. You read that correctly. Insane.
  4. I just want the opportunity to call out Tercet for a dumb statement and win some cash in the process.
  5. Bet you $10 that McKinney has a higher wRC+ between now and the end of the season (min 200 PA for both).
  6. Pillar is a 2 WAR player, not replacement level. He wad a solid piece for us.
  7. I would home he's better than a retired hockey player.
  8. I'll take him over Sogard.
  9. I'll take pretty much anything over Socrates Brito at this point.
  10. We've got more than enough data to show that xFIP is a horribly ineffective way to evaluate Aaron Sanchez. You know that, but you are just being a stubborn ******* because you were wrong about him.
  11. A couple of hits on good pitches. He's been really solid today, but a lot of the forum abandons all logic when it comes to Sanchez.
  12. I think he is Sidd Finch's cousin.
  13. There's some good hittin' on that Boston pitching staff. It might be just what we needed to get out of our funk.
  14. 1. Under 2. Over 3. Over 4. Under 5. Under 6. Over 7. Under 8. Under 9. Over 10. Over
  15. Giving up nothing to grab a 2 WAR CF on a cheap deal doesn't really sound stupid to me. They had a need and filled it without giving up a part of their future. It's something I wish our FO would do a little more of to be honest.
  16. Ten games is indeed a small sample, but when you are basically the worst hitting team in the history of baseball then it probably means something.
  17. As confident as I am in the rebuild, I must say that this is probably the worst Blue Jays team that I have ever seen in my 30 years of fandom. It's embarrassing and not acceptable. That falls on the coaching, the front office's poor talent evaluation, and their inability to address holes in our offense. Something needs to be done quickly.
  18. I agree with a lot of this, but I don't think everything is going as well as they would like. Ideally the last couple of years of selling would have produced some core pieces going forward, but we really don't have much going for us. In our last rebuild that led to playoff appearances we had brought in guys from other organizations like Bautista, Encarnacion, Escobar, Morrow, Rasmus, and Lawrie within the first 2 years to go along with an equally strong farm system. Obviously that group had varying levels of success, but I'm not seeing the same level of talent in guys like Hernandez, McKinney, Drury, Thornton, etc. Are they key parts of the next contending Jays team? Ken Giles is the only guy that I think fits the mould and he'll be very expensive. I think they've done a very good job adding to a deceptively strong farm system that they inherited and I like their player development strategy. Hopefully it will start bearing fruit soon and hopefully some of our roster will step up this year. It seems that our only good players are young holdovers from before they were hired or recent FA signings.
  19. I was more confident before this terrible offseason, but I still like what they have done in general. The drafting is still reasonably good, without much of a change from the Anthopoulos regime. I love some of the moves like the Happ signing and the Grichuk trade, while some other moves like the Morales signing were highly questionable from the start. Shapiro has done this before and found success so I will give him the benefit of the doubt for a while longer. However, the past calendar year has been an unmitigated disaster so they don't have forever. They failed to get adequate value in trades for veterans on several occasions, they failed to find players that will be on the next winning Jays team, and they have failed to provide an adequate roster for 2019, despite many opportunities to do so. I hope that this changes very soon.
  20. I can't recall ever seeing a worse offense from the Blue Jays than this current team. It's too bad that we had to punt the season so badly. I feel like a rebuild could put slightly more emphasis on the current without sacrificing any of the future with short term deals and whatnot.
  21. If Alen Hanson is being placed on the roster then I would expect Richard Urena to be the odd man out. Then our bench is: Maile Hanson Tellez/Hernandez Brito
  22. I like Drury, but letting him dictate what we do with our best prospect in years would be foolish. If they think Vlad is ready for 3B then he should go there. If he is not then we have a nice fallback option.
  23. I think his ML value is about 2 WAR, the same thing he does every year. I'm not seeing why we had to rush to trade him for nothing. We left ourselves pretty thin in the outfield for no apparent reason.
  24. Further confirmation that our FO is in love with exit velocity.
  25. I don't really understand this move. Alford certainly hasn't forced his way up and we don't really have much in the way of outfield depth, especially centerfield. We got pretty much nothing in return as well. Seems like a pure salary dump where they just gave Pillar to the first tram that would take his salary.
