  1. Nicely done Grichuk, do that slide every time.
  2. The throw was made before Grichuk made contact with Profar.
  3. If this is not overturned then I don't know what to say. This is outrageous.
  4. Challenge the s*** out of this. That slide was clean.
  5. Nothing is guaranteed in baseball. We've seen the best preseason team tank and miss the playoffs, win it all, and everything in between. Bobby Cox probably had the best team in baseball 6 or 7 times and only won once. We were lucky to have such good years and memories and I hope more are coming under Montoyo.
  6. He was no different than any other manager in his first stint and the results were better than anyone could have dreamed of, but he failed to adapt to some of the newer changes in the game during his second stint. Fortunately, we got Joey and Edwin out of it so it was definitely a net positive.
  7. I'm mostly doing this to get a laugh out of the 12 paragraph response, but one wonders how Olerud would have done without the tutelage of one of the game's great hitting coaches. This quote from him describes the swing of so many other hitters that blossomed under Cito. The two are always extremely complimentary of each other so there was obviously a pretty strong and positive relationship. "My focus was really on keeping my hands inside the ball and just have a real short route to the inside pitch, and not worry about hitting the inside pitch hard, just getting the barrel to it,” he said. “ And the outside pitch, I felt like I had more time to get to it and I could relax. I didn’t have to fight to get the barrel to that outside pitch.”
  8. https://www.mlb.com/cut4/pitchers-react-to-giving-up-home-runs This was fun and difficult, I only got 6 and I think it was mostly random chance. I was really confident on 4,8, and 9 and I still got one of them wrong.
  9. Kirk is the next Willians Astudillo
  10. I don't think so. I get that Pivetta has solid peripherals, but he seems overly aggressive and puts a lot of pitches over the heart of the plate. A 5.5 ERA over 300 innings is pretty unsightly.
  11. I would have doubled that if I were the Jays. We are in desperate need of SP depth.
  12. He broke his second metacarpal. For a layman, that is the bottom segment of your index finger.
  13. 4 Sogard 6 Urena 9 Grichuk 3 Smoak 0 Tellez 5 Drury 7 McKinney 8 Brito 2 Maile 1 Thornton 9 Duggar 7 Parra 2 Posey 3 Belt 5 Longoria 0 Sandoval 6 Crawford 8 Pillar 4 Panik 1 Samardzija
  14. It's not acceptable to have words that some people can use and others can not. MLB made the right decision.
  15. I think at that point he's looking at a 1 year deal with a contender which is hopefully us, but probably not.
  16. If that's the contract then I don't see him blocking our young pitchers. We're already looking at a pretty frail rotation and more injuries will surely come. If he's crap then we just release him and if he's good then we deal him at the deadline.
  17. I hope we are all in on Gio Gonzalez. I watched his last start on the radio and he looked great. The promise of a big league job should be pretty enticing.
  18. Yikes! Shades of AJ Burnett.
  19. Perfect game?
  20. Tanking means our young players suck. Winning means our young players are good.
  21. Sanchez would get 60 mil on the open market right now, I have no doubt about that. Young pitchers with healthy arms and ace level stuff always get paid. His velocity is still 95, strikeouts are way up, groundball rate is still over 50%. There's a lot to like about that profile even with the frustrating control issues.
  22. Mentally ill is thinking that you are better than other people because someone made you a moderator on a free message board. It's pretty amusing so go ahead and ban me for thinking that Sanchez is a better pitcher than you do. xFIP is not the perfect, infallible stat that you make it out to be. It's a reasonably good indicator of success for most pitchers. That's all.
  23. I would comment more on this but BTS bans people if they say nice things about Aaron Sanchez.
  24. That would be an excellent contract if we could get it done. His arm has been very healthy and it's blatantly obvious by now that he's a FIP beater. Then there's always what tantalizing Cy level upside if he retains his stuff.
