  1. I'm 100% behind the idea of signing Kim. I just think that we should also acquire another option in CF in case things don't work out
  2. I don't really object to the idea of Kim playing some CF. Without knowing his skillset like the Jays FO does, I would think he could probably be decent. I'm just not keen on the idea of getting him to be our primary option there when we already have a hole in the infield. Springer and Bradley are available, along with several options via trade and and in-house options like Grichuk and Davis.
  3. I would think the reason for that is rather obvious. If a player can't play in the outfield then a team probably won't transition him there. As to your other point about only middle infielders being able to play the outfield: Catcher: Jayson Werth Firat base: Cody Bellinger Third base: Devon White
  4. In reality, the gap was far larger than that because defensive metrics were horrendous back then, but I get what you are saying. Olerud probably would have gotten serious HOF consideration if he had above average power numbers.
  5. Your point was hardly obvious, given that they have rather similar builds and only differ by 2 inches and 16 pounds. Biggio is closer in height to Alomar than he is to John Olerud. Who comps size anyways? It's always baseball abilities in the context that you used the word. Say what you mean if you want people to understand.
  6. Biggio is far better than a Hall of Fame player. Who we should really compare him to is a worse player that plays a different position.
  7. Eugenio Suarez might be available and is obviously a good fit. What kind of package would you give for him?
  8. I don't like that idea because it implies that players elected by the veterans committee are not as deserving, which isn't true. Look at guys like Sam Crawford, Addie Joss, Ed Delahanty, Alan Trammell, and Old Hoss Radbourne. They are all deserving by any standard and better than a great number of BBWAA inductees.
  9. Along with Joe Carter, he also has the biggest hit in MLB history. That had to be a factor for the voters.
  10. Pretty much everyone was racist back in the day, but Tom Yawkey, Cap Anson, and Ty Cobb stand out as some of the worst.
  11. I'm surprised they didn't claim him earlier if they were interested. His arbitration projection was right in that range.
  12. Stifling interesting baseball conversations is always a good way to improve a message board. We need less of that here. My vote for the new name would be the Cleveland Spiders if that is considered an acceptable statement.
  13. We're not allowed to discuss a team name change apparently.
  14. I think that's exactly what would happen, but your opinion is valid so I won't argue it too much.
  15. I'm not quite sure why we would do both, but the opportunity is certainly there for us to get either player.
  16. I expect that Gurriel probably has more trade value than Groshans to begin with.
  17. https://www.tsn.ca/mlb/video/atkins-says-the-jays-feel-prepared-if-there-s-mutual-interest-from-ha-seong-kim~2097791
  18. I could handle 5/90 for Realmuto as our impact signing if we can address another hole with our young catching. I'm thinking a guy like Harrison Bader or Victor Robles, someone young with control.
  19. I like the idea of signing Kim more each day, but obviously we have to see what happens with LeMahieu and get more clarity on a contract extension with Lindor. Kim is a seamless fit on our roster wouldn't preclude us from adding a star like Arenado, Story, or even Lindor next offseason.
  20. The lesson I glean from the Cubs is that you shouldn't trade elite prospects for rentals, not that free agent contracts crippled them.
  21. Quite the impressive stats for that young catcher.
  22. Bradley, Kim, and Paxton with bullpen and bench moves would make me happy, but I can understand why your expectations are high.
  23. I didn't even notice and I'm not sure why. I didn't mean to!
