    Kirk has injury questions, defensive questions, and didn't exactly light it up with the bat this year. Giving him time in AAA and preserving depth isn't exactly the worst idea.

    I think it's far more likely that Kirk will end up in AAA than it is that we will get a useful return for a catcher on a hot streak that cleared waivers not long ago.

    At some point in mid May, Grichuk was hitting well over .300 and was up there on the home run and RBI leaderboards as a CF.. I'm not saying that those are the best stats to go by, but I can understand why he received votes.

    Fair enough, but I still think they would move Schoop. It's too bad there aren't more 3B options.

    I expect Atkins to be busy, but I don't expect a major addition. He seems very hesitant to give up top prospects. I've pushed for Eduardo Escobar since last season, but that idea was borrowed so I'll throw out some new ideas. Ian Kennedy from the Rangers for Kevin Smith. They are starting Charlie Culberson on a regular basis. A major league ready infield prospect is a big need for Texas and Kennedy obviously fits with the Jays. Jonathan Schoop from the Tigers for Rikelvin de Castro. Schoop lost his job to isaac Paredes and has been moving around the diamond. He hasn't played a ton of third, but has plenty of arm. If we want to address 3B, we have to think outside the box. There are very few options. Alex Cobb from the Angels for Joey Murray. The Angels aren't ready to sell now, but it's only a matter of time. Cobb is putting up a career high in strikeouts and having a rather nice season, despite a bloated ERA. Andrew Heaney is another target from the same team.

    Vlad Jr. now has a 199 wRC+. The last player not named Barry to do that over a full season was Mark McGwire in 1998 when he hit 70 home runs. Our young slugger wasn't even born yet when that happened.

    I like Eduardo Escobar and Ian Kennedy as complimentary pieces. A bench bat that can play 3B and a reliever are our most obvious needs. If we're shopping for more expensive players, I think that Max Scherzer is an ideal fit. This lineup with him and Ryu is a favourite in any series.

    Panik seems fine at first base from what I have seen. Defense isn't really the problem.

    Either that or we weren't using the new substances in the first place. I'm surprised that a team like the Dodgers was caught so unprepared.

    He had to be protected this year. I don't think it's indicative of any plans to call him up this season.

    That's the best you could come up with? You've provided no facts or sound arguments in support of the players. Warning employees, giving them ample time to adapt, and implementing a new policy is how this is done at every good workplace in the world.

    Explain why part of an offseason, spring training, and 2 months of a season was not enough notice. Do you want the rule grandfathered in or something? There's no reason to believe that players didn't have enough time to adapt.

    It's crazy how this lie about them enforcing the rule 'all of the sudden' keeps getting brought up as the main point in support of pitchers. This has always been a rule. It never would have been enforced if pitchers stuck to sunscreen and rosin. Fans and hitters were generally indifferent. It wasn't particularly bad for the game. Recently, they pushed it too far by essentially applying glue to their hands. MLB really had no choice but to take action and gave the pitchers warnings and an overly gratuitous, consequence free, amount of time to adapt. This wasn't 'all of the sudden'. Enforcement had to start at some point.

    The league told the players that there were going to be changes before the season started. We heard about it at the time, it's a fact. They had part of the offseason, spring training, and 2 months of the season to adjust. Glasnow is the employee that got written up a dozen times for being late and is now freaking out because he was disciplined. What part of that are you not understanding or disagreeing with?

    Pitchers were told before the season that the league was going to crack down on foreign substances. Now they did and pitchers are complaining? They have had plenty of time to adapt. The midseason argument holds no water at all. Blame does rest entirely with the players that are cheating and didn't stop when they were told that the rule would be enforced. I have no sympathy that that clown Glasnow.
