  1. Thanks. I updated the list.
  2. Better yet, a player could essentially throw a perfect game and lose. I'd much prefer a tie or a coin flip to having a Manfred Man on second each inning. Extra innings play such an integral role in baseball's best moments and historical achievements. It literally disgusts me that they want to alter the game in such a profound manner.
  3. I'm not interested in engaging in hyperbole. If you want to have a real discussion then say something constructive.
  4. That's right. Unvaccinated players can outdoors in New York.
  5. Why do they like it? It's surely exactly what I said.
  6. I supported the takeout slide rule, although the implementation of the rule was a huge mess, as we saw on the following opening day. It didn't come off as gimmicky to me. These players get whole lot of money and there were insurance issues at play. I don't think fans looked at stuff like the Hal McRae slide as an essential part of the game either. This rule is more akin to adding an extra runner to third base or something if there is a takeout slide. It's altering the most basic rules of the game. It's not a minor tweak like making bigger bases or moving the mound back. The impetus for this extra innings nonsense is animosity between the players and owners. The players want to do less work at the expense of the fan experience at a time when baseball desperately needs more fans.
  7. The Blue Jays just announced the completion of a substantial multi year contract. To Yusei Kikuchi for 3/36
  8. The players are showing an absolutely shameful level of disrespect for the game that they play and the guys that came before them. There's really no other way to spin it. I'm not going at this from a purist point of view either. I support things like the universal DH and automated umpires. This, however, is akin to changing how many balls or strikes it takes to get a batter out. It fundamentally alters how the game is played.
  9. Marcus Semien he got first.
  10. I don't hate Schwarber. If you can trade Grichuk and have a bunch of extra cash then by all means, but he's just not a fit. Why would we spend a bunch of money on a DH when we have gaping holes at 3B and the bullpen, with presumably limited resources? I wouldn't support a Nelson Cruz acquisition either.
  11. You've got that right. This is one of the most idiotic things they have ever done. They are trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist.
  12. This team led the league in OPS against right handed pitchers last year. Guys like Guerrero Jr, Gurriel Jr, and Jansen had negative splits. The ability to hit right handed pitching isn't an issue for this team, period. Infield depth, team defense, and pitching are our biggest issues in that order. Paying Schwarber a bunch of money solves none of those issues. In fact, it makes them worse. If we fill our hole at 3B and get some relief help and still have 15 million burning a hole in our pocket then sure, sign me up for Schwarber, but It's a silly notion right now.
  13. Charlie Montoyo on the situation: https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/blue-jays-charlie-montoyo-on-unvaccinated-opponents-rules-are-rules/
  14. You have to figure that would have been brought up in the CBA negotiations and they couldn't come to an agreement. The Prime Minister called a National Emergency because he was unwilling to engage in a discussion about cross border mandates, so I doubt MLB will make much progress. Flip flops are a bad look in politics. The US Government also plays a role in this as well because the mandates go both ways.
  15. Mike Trout found out on twitter that the Angels were moving him to the corner outfield. Brilliant move by them.
  16. Overpaying for a guy that doesn't fit our needs at all and suggesting that we play him at a position where he is an absolute trainwreck is a stupid take.
  17. I would explore trade options with him, but I don't think we're at the point where an average backup OF making too much money is doing tremendous harm to this team. I see us adding an IF and using Kirk at DH, so the bench is probably going to be McGuire, Espinal, and Grichuk. A solid LH platoon guy would be a great fit for that last spot to fill in at DH. Eddie Rosario, Corey Dickerson, Joc Pederson, Colin Moran, and Brad Miller all fit the bill to some extent.
  18. The claim that he waited until the lockout was over to get a necessary medical procedure seems a little dubious to me. A non displaced fracture would have partially healed already if it happened in December or something. Anything worse would have been dealt with immediately. This probably happened in the last couple of weeks and didn't alter his timeline at all. I certainly could be wrong though.
  19. Injury prone and part time RF George Springer is our CF and Randal Grichuk is our backup CF. Unless that changes, he gets a lot of at-bats. The quality of our DH options isn't the problem here.
  20. It's a shame to see that one of the league's best young players is made of glass.
  21. So am I, but disagreeing with stupid takes doesn't mean someone thinks that they are smarter than the GM.
  22. In some ways, signing with a non contender on a 1 year deal is a more likely path to the playoffs than signing with a fringe team like the Phillies or Twins who are a coin flip to make the playoffs, but won't trade you.
  23. I have little interest in a guy who is nearly unplayable in the field. It doesn't fit our current roster construction very well at all and we already have enough issues defensively. Someone like Chapman is a far, far better fit.
  24. It actually looks like a solid set of moves IF they get Story. They would end up improving their infield defense and offense, while adding a nice starting pitcher and not increasing payroll a ton. Garver to Sanchez is a downgrade, but they intend to roll with Jeffers as the starter either way.
  25. If the Twins get Trevor Story, I think we should approach them about flipping Gio Urshela. He could be a nice inexpensive option at 3B for us.
