  1. Waste of money. Everyone that gets in has an equal chance,
  2. Meh. They can’t all be A+ material. Michael Jordan missed free throws.
  3. My sources tell me after they f***ed around with Biggio for 5+ years, they are thinking maybe to trust their scouting more. They’re keeping all options open.
  4. It was bang-bang. Hardly obviously out.
  5. Little bit harsh of a take. There’s nothing excusing the f*** up, but your player signaling to challenge the play isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Especially in that case, it’s not the equivalent of LeBron not getting back on D with 9 minutes to go in the first quarter, while protesting a foul.
  6. When the player waits, it feels like they usually get it in the end.
  7. Logic dictates that if you go with 3 plus Defensive OF that provide value covering ground, they’re each going to eat away at the others value to some degree. Jays would be better served to put a big bat in a corner
  8. If he runs out of names to throw out there by 2025, we could provide him a list of all of Spanky’s rosters and he’d be back in business.
  9. Don’t let him slip out of being a dumbass. He wasn’t trolling this time around
  10. Jim was too lazy to see that Belly is Lefty/Lefty Just like his lazy analysis that “lefties” are more likely to thrive outside the US because they’re more accepting of foreign laws. They’re the “live and let live” people, per Jim.
  11. Biggio as our Corner OF and persuading a FA you’re after to switch positions, to somewhere they haven’t played. Not sure which thought process is more dumb
  12. 2 houses, one being a beach house. A boat probably in the $1-2m range. I’d probably splurge on a Bentley convertible. That’s about it. Put away some cash for retirement. Call it a day.
  13. Until they say “ok, we’ll take the $280m”… then it’s like “mmm..ok..sure..uh we’re going to push this with the board next week”
  14. Who is dunking? I’m merely just saying Jays had no chance and everyone was bamboozled. Take that as you may. LAA did seem to be very much in the mix, based on the info given.
  15. The Cubs hung on to the end and got a call too. NYY and such knew the deal and moved on.
  16. Sounded like 1) LAD, 2) SF, 3) LAA Which as I said when the final four was announced, one didn’t belong
  17. What it really boils down to, is the Jays had absolutely no chance. I really don’t understand why they stayed in until the end. Most teams understood what he was looking for and moved on.
  18. It’s a combination of things that makes all the sense in the world. It’s a forgone conclusion he’ll get out of state taxes. That’s 12% (so + $84m) for Cali. The question is, is he grandfathered into the 37% Fed rate, or does he pay more if it goes by deferral time. He wouldn’t be the first athlete to decide to live off his endorsements, and $50m year is living large. And there’s definitely a Tom Brady factor to it all. He wants to win. Anyways, this is a unicorn situation and there’s no need to rewrite rules over it
  19. I think Devers got $75m deferred, which would be more normal. So they probably have to put like $3m a year away that circumvents the cap. And the player has to agree.
  20. It’s not cheating if it’s a loophole. Ask the guys making $100m and paying a 10% effective tax rate. It’s s***** but it’s not cheating. As for this mlb loophole, it takes two to tango. There’s 75 players someone mentioned with deferred payments, so it’s not super rare. Ohtani is truly just a unicorn situation with his endorsement dollars, where he could defer such an amount.
  21. That’s probably his ask and Jays aren’t there. That’s why the discussion hasn’t gone anywhere.
  22. It’s like TDS (which I’ll bet he has), but ODS… he also has BDS for Boston.
  23. I’ll give you 60 cents on the dollar rn
  24. He’s not playing in 2024, mate. Hope for after that.
  25. It’s been the MO for at least the last 5 years. Trade targets and FA. No team in mlb is mentioned more. I think at least half the teams in mlb shake the tree with most players. One team somehow gets mentioned more than anyone. It’s not coincidence.
