  1. If he put up identical numbers as he did last year, what would Beltran's WAR be as a DH? Just curious.. know he will play in the field mostly.. he may be better with NY's smaller RF compared to St.L though maybe?
  2. Rotation TOR > NYY Idk.. break down the rotation comparison amigo so I can see what you're thinking
  3. Not really. I thought they were a possible playoff team with their moves.. and there were others like Dinger that praised what they did and called them contenders..there was a thread on it on the old board
  4. Werent you on record last year for saying how bad Bos was?
  5. Honest inquiry. So why should we assume a 25-26yo coming off a 6.5WAR season whose avg'd 6+ WAR over the last 3 years should be reasonably projected at 3.7 WAR?
  6. How did you get Trout, Clayton, and Moore on your team. You traded high level prospects or something? Cant imagine it'd be possible via draft
  7. Well, luckily he doesn't have the minor league pieces to do it. I don't see him opening up a big hole on the roster (like an Edwin) just to fill another. But s***, if we were gonna overpay for a SP I wish it was Price last season instead of Dickey.. if we were gonna trade TDA and Synder anyway.. I would've rather added Sanchez and Gose and had a shot at Price. Not that I would've done all four of those guys for Price.. but when factoring that or the RA deal I would.
  8. Certainly the safest way not to lose. No blame in that
  9. While I don't see the team as a real playoff contender.. I don't think they are as bad as their atrocious start last season.. it's prob a .500 club and will give some small slimmers of hope of maybe getting that 2nd WC.. as I said, I'd rather see that even if they likely fail over watching C prospects get the bulk of playing time and be awful. Those lineups they would roll out sometimes would just make you not want to care or watch. I would only agree with you if they were Top 100 types.. even borderline talents like that.
  10. All depends on your cup of tea.. personally I would much rather watch an 84 win team play the season than a 70 win team even if neither make the playoffs. I'm not a big draft pic guy unless its the first pic and its Bryce Harper
  11. Everyone has right to their opinion.. as BTS mentioned earlier.. you're in the camp of let a guy fail before writing him off.. others don't want to see the very probable outcome develop
  12. And Rasmus is DH or Melky.. or Lind?
  13. That is the exact logic that led to us having to cringe watching Thames play a good chunk of games.. Even if Jays don't win, I hope they keep guys like that off the field at least
  14. Agreed.. even with the swing-and-miss bat.. I think Gose provides more value to the team in both actual and perceived value. Comparing to Pillar I mean
  15. lol.. If I was ACE and came to this thread..on top of this being weird.. I would be like "WTF you guys are stalking me now?".. talking about calling relatives and anyone else that may have had casual contact.. I'm teasing though.. I know theres genuine concern
  16. I think he was being facetious based on beginning with "lol" and his profile but I will be honest and that name didn't ring a bell with me like James Bond or Sherlock Holmes would.. I'm sure I came across the name in passing a few times but never registered with me I guess.
  17. So considering these odds.. if you bet a $100.. and it's not a big deal if you lose it but you don't want to spend it like a lottery ticket either.. who are you taking? for AL pennant I mean If I didn't hate the NYY.. I may take them at 11-1

    NBA Thread

Jesus.. sometimes you see a player come and go and realize how old youre getting.. in this case, it's the opposite as I cant believe he's still around (and apparently producing no less).. in mlb he would be stoned as an obvious hgh user (37 in NBA has to be at least 42 in mlb) and banned from any post-playing acknowledgment. f***ing Selig
  19. Yes. It's really a foregone conclusion
  20. I think the JAys will see it that way even if I don't.
  21. Well.. they're mutual odds but at some point a process was involved to set the lines and it goes from there. Think the NFL point spread system
  22. Yeah he made TOR a laughingstock worldwide so its very possible someone from outside TOR would mock in such a way on this board.
  23. I'm definitely ok with Wells > Pillar thinking though. Really don't want to see him play anymore.
  24. "as long as he comes very cheap".. its in stone he will either get league minimum or a minor league deal.. nothing more Correct me if I'm wrong but when a player is under contract, they cant get anything more than that. The signing team simply pays their part of the salary towards the team that's on the hook for him... What you could say, as since hes playing for free basically wherever he goes.. he may choose Tor over some other cities
  25. lol..This is what I was thinking last night with the sketchy details given.. but tiptoed on the issue as I didn't want to come off as an insensitive douchebag, as people were genuinely thinking what they were
