I didn’t remember Barfield being silky smooth like White. I remember the cannon I think. I was only 8 in 1987 when I can remember following George Bell and the Jays close, though I was Jays fan couple years before. Just looked at his FG page for first time. If he was around today he probably would’ve been set for huge payday if he made it to FA but would’ve been disappointing outcome seems like. I came across him at some minor league game I think when I was around 14 or so and I talked to him for a bit asking him about Japan. I remember him being a really cool dude and he was happy to talk about it -

We hear DJL is pushing for 5 years, JTR $200m... I wonder if Springer is pushing for 6/150 rather than 5/125. Makes him a little less attractive if that’s the case. I’d still be ok with it if that’s what it took because Mets offered 5/125 and were first choice

No. I just apparently misstated my opinion earlier. I mentioned that Omar prob needed to score high on character as his on-field resume was meh....so clearly I acknowledge it as a factor I didn’t mean to stay it shouldn’t be a factor on some level. Just don’t think it should be so huge as to nullify a clearly deserving resume.

I believe it should be a factor. Just that it shouldn’t keep a first-ish ballot HOF out.

Not a popular opinion here but I’m hoping Jays sign Odorizzi. Too small a sample size to judge last year but at least the velo increase was still there that he apparently worked on at a baseball factory before the prior year Obviously I’d rather have Bauer (or trade for an ace)... prob Paxton too (only if they signed someone else with Paxton though). But I think JO is a legit target. Him and one other guy like Walker.

From all objective reports, Schilling doesn’t hold a candle to Ty Cobb in that regard. I’m sure that’s not the only mega douchebag in the Hall either. That’s just crazy that being an ******* keeps you out of the HOF. It completely ignores precedent for no other good reason than current PC culture. At least cheating I can understand to a certain degree, even if I don’t agree

Jesus Spanky. Can’t you at least give a guy an investigation before you burn him at the stake? But even if so, I still believe players with character flaws should go in. They already will carry the stain on their legacy for the rest of their lives. Their accomplishments on the field aren’t erased but whenever a father comes across said player at the HOF, he’ll prob mention he beat his wife.. at least when his kid is old enough to hear it lol For the record, I think OV needs to score really high in character though as he doesn’t really deserve to go in based on what he did on the field. Even his glove was just a poor man’s second fiddle to Ozzie Smith so there was nothing generational about it
