  1. Schilling in asking to be taken off ballot: “I’ve certainly been exposed to racism and sexism and homophobia as it’s part of who human beings are. I’ve played with and talked with gay teammates. I’ve played with wife beaters, adulterers, assaulted, drug addicts and alcoholics. I’ve never hit a woman, driven drunk, done drugs, PEDs or otherwise, assaulted anyone or committed any sort of crime. But I’m now somehow in a conversation with two men who cheated, and instead of being accountable they chose to destroy others lives to protect their lie. I will always have one thing they will forever chase. A legacy. Whatever mine is as a player it will be the truth, and one I earned for better or worse.”
  2. So who gets to break the news to Vlad? Lol. At least they can say he’ll be better prepared for chasing down pop outs off 1b
  3. Well, if he signed say 4/64 that could definitely be a relatively prohibitive contract to a normal team if he was unproductive.. but that’s not a worry on 1 year deal. I’m for it
  4. So what happens here? With the IF
  5. Yeah I was always against signing him when he wanted multi-year deal. Way too volatile. Upside is undeniable though so to get him short term is good
  6. I won’t argue against this point. I personally just like Shoe better than some of our other backend options but understand they’re already here.
  7. It would probably be a pretty inconsequential signing. What’s he get, $4m? I hope they bring him back as depth. If he’s healthy, I don’t mind him being the #5 guy
  8. Pretty much left with made-of-glass Paxton and Odorizzi for mid-rotation in terms of FA. Walker one of the better backend guys I guess. Couple other half-interesting options there maybe Edit- I guess I’m assuming Bauer not an option of course
  9. Yeah, I mean it’s a tough thing- playoffs. As a person I’m very much against the “everyone gets a trophy” culture but I mean look at what it does for a team like Toronto and their fan base. Gets people engaged that otherwise wouldn’t be. Baseball is kinda dying out compared to other sports as has been discussed here. Not really disagreeing with you but that’s just the other side of it
  10. Most fans are casuals. After a eventless 10th and 11th inning say, they all want it to end whether they’re there at the stadium or watching at home waiting to go to bed. As others have said, I don’t think it should ever be a rule for the playoffs
  11. Heck if Jays don’t have an exciting playoff push maybe they don’t sign Springer thinking they’re still couple years away
  12. Yeah there will be opinions all over on this but I agree
  13. Playoffs may be a crap shoot but odds are not the same for everyone.
  14. Don’t agree. The big spending teams aren’t building around squeezing in the playoffs as a WC. Most judge success on how deep they go, not just getting there. The small market teams aren’t bidding up the big FA and for the middle crop, there prob becomes more of a market with teams trying to sneak in
  15. Yeah but it seems the poison pill is the expanded playoffs and the DH was something the owners were offering as a concession The confusion actually becomes the people that come away thinking the PU is against the DH. Again politics is like this where they’ll include money for wounded puppies in with a poison pill and when it gets rejected, being like “these people hate puppies”
  16. I think the opinion has been expressed on here before that owners are probably mostly indifferent to it, save maybe for a few of the really wrinkly traditionalists. It’s like politics where they’re just packaging some stuff together to get their objective
  17. If a team is offering 5/175 say (which is practical).. with opt outs even... but they won’t let Bauer pitch every 4th day, he would be a f’n idiot to turn it down out of some kind of machismo principle. All signs point to him cashing in/selling out from all the smack talk he’s done
  18. Yeah I don’t get it. Say Bauer only asks for only 4/120 opt out after 2, seems a lot better than the proposed deal
  19. Well, I was suggesting there’s no clear negative...not there there was an inherent positive.
  20. I think Jays only carry the stigma with American players that Canada sucks. Don’t think we’ll necessarily need to go extra years or even money with a guy like Tanaka. Hope it heats up- 2/30 or something if his market is slow?

Actually I forgot it wasn’t a neutral field. That drives the line a bit I guess but still think Chiefs are the bet.

Chiefs -3.5 opening line. Chiefs looks like a really good bet. It’ll prob go up
