    What stats? I’m not big on stats that are flawed. How would you know how rare it is for false accusations? If you say 5-10%, that’s because it’s 10% that are proven false, right? What about all the acquittals or convictions that were false and you don’t know? Are you only using a sample size of cases where there is irrefutable third-person evidence, if so I’d listen to that stat. Anyways, I believe a whole lot of rapes happen that don’t get reported and those are all rapes that happened. I believe it takes a ton of courage for girls to come forward, I genuinely do. I wouldn’t even object to calling it a societal problem. However, I could also say that in cases with 9 figure bank accounts ans celebrity status, I would think the whole line becomes a lot more blurred as I understand human nature. Every case needs to be judged on its merits and nobody should be presumed innocent or guilty by anything other than the facts of THEIR case, nobody elses

    I read somewhere players were basically 50/50 on them (accuracy wise, something about breaking pitches low in the zone) but I guess that doesn’t mean much. They don’t like whoever is calling a strike

    The only ones that really get scrutinized are the ones that acted weirdly. Like with that movie producer Weinstein everyone knew he was a slimy pig and didn’t dismiss the kind of stuff he did but you didn’t feel for the girls that added their name in there but repeatedly kept coming back for more trying to still get movie parts. That’s called after-the-fact regret

    Attention and money. It’s not really a phenomenon limited to rape victims. When there’s big money involved in other kinds of lawsuits… heck, even when a large reward is announced for something, thousands of people call with bogus information. That’s a fact. Humans are just s***** people, the worst of them at the very least

    Purely hypothetical but if there were more battered women that came forward, that would actually push the boundary as far as it could go with being able to come back from it. If he wasn’t one of best in game he’d be done for sure, Closest example would be maybe Michael Vick. Equally talented, equally deplorable

    If you grab a 6 WAR All star on an expiring contract (2mo rental), doesn’t seem hard to out value that. There’s more to it than face value obviously. Though at least nobody does anything stupid anymore really

    Strict interpretation of laws would only matter in bench trial anyway. For instance, if the law is a girl can’t consent if she’s intoxicated, say a .10 (which can be few drinks for light girl) a 12 person jury isn’t sending some college kid away to prison for a drunken hookup unless the girl is totally incapacitated. Those kind of cases are notoriously difficult to prosecute, everyone knows that. This girls behavior would get her torn apart

    Still doesn’t mean an ADA would feel great bringing it to court. I really think Bauer’s celebrity works against him in this case in more ways than one
