    Hendriks being a s***** starter has nothing to do with how he should be valued. Tons of elite bullpen guys are failed starters. Even with comparable projections one is a free agent to be and the other has 3 years remaining. If we are going to review transactions, we have the benefit of using hindsight. That move was pretty meh at the time, and looks awful now.

    If you're going to look at these moves it has to be independently. Hendriks for Chavez was atrocious. Just because they salvaged some SP depth out of it doesn't mean you can excuse the initial trade.

    I don't understand why everyone is so up in arms about bringing back Thole. He's obviously insurance in case (heaven forbid) Dickey needs to start during the post season. Cross your t's and dot your i's. There is nothing wrong we being prepared, which is literally all they're doing.

    Well I think the main (only?) reason Navarro is back is because of his familiarity with the staff. He's decent insurance but as others have expressed he needs to be used properly. Otherwise Gibby is going to wear out his welcome.

    It's so easy to fall in love with role players from a casual viewpoint. My dad's favorite player is Dickey and is the biggest Dickey apologist I've ever met. I think it's just to troll me but still.

    Sounds like an even better reason to trade for him. Whether or not he would follow through on that who knows, but not having to pay Joey Votto 25M in 2022 or whatever because he retired in 2021 after a subpar season would be ideal.
