    The disconnect between posters appears to be one subset of the forum okay with being the Miami Marlins and the other wanting to be the Houston Astros

    This is a fair assessment. Can’t assume you’re going to have the leagues best staff again and the rest of the league is going to be looking to improve (SEA, NYY, BOS, CLE)

    The difference is they win 100 games like every year now. The Blue Jays never have Dodgers purposely sat out of FA this year and reset their luxury tax commitments so they can sign Ohtani and they still won 100 games

    That’s where we differ. I think it’s highly unlikely Bo, Vlad and one of those guys each have 4 WAR seasons And if the goal is to simply be the Miami Marlins ie just make it in then blow it up

    I’m actually not sure this is true and thought about it this season regarding KK vs Bellinger Would you be willing to pay more $/WAR if it meant consolidating those WARz into a single player? I think so Player A - two wins at 4M a pop Player B - five wins at 5M a pop Give me the 5 WAR player

    Never said they had to sign one. Of course the trade route applies to bringing in players. You’re right it could happen internally but…. who? Even if you have one player breakout with 3.5 WAR all you’ve done is replaced Chapman’s production. Yes I would be shocked if Bo, Vlad and one other current hitter had a 4 WAR season in 2024. I don’t think betting on that happening is a recipe for success
