If Goins plays fringe above-average D (which I kinda expect he will, because he always has) he doesn't need to BABIP his way to a great slash line to be valuable.

No, you're right, let's just assume that everyone who isn't a top 100 prospect is absolute garbage and will never contribute.

He hasn't proven to be below-average either, which is what you seem to keep implying. Like I said the only data we have is minor league reports, but you're trashing those.

Obviously he hasn't proven it. He's only played for a week. All we have to go on is years of minor league reports, which happen to say he has above-average D. But let's disregard those because Hech isn't good at D.

Why do we even let the players play the game? All we need to do is sort by stats and we have the best right there. Just sim their stats based on DIPS and we can determine the WS.

It doesn't even matter because Goins is known as a defense first guy. But I guess you've jumped to the conclusion that his D is bad, against the opinion if scouts, without watching him yourself, because sometimes scouts misread defense. Sound logic

I guess he thinks its better to just give up on him before he even watches him play. I'm not saying he's gonna be a great player, I'm saying its foolish to write a player off before they even play a game.
