    They just told Walker they might use him in high leverage so he felt better about getting demoted to the pen Dude is cooked and would have been out of MLB after 2024 if not for his contract. Getting lucky somehow this year, though. He might be better than Bowden Francis actually.

    Paningo doesn't have good projections yet. The Jays must have unlocked something because his track record is mediocre at best. Year - MiLB wRC+ 2025 - 173 2024 - 111 2023 - 87 2022 - 90 2021 - 97 dude toiled in high A for two full season plus over 100 PA in two other seasons

    I thought Romano's stuff looked pretty good. Really just the one mistake pitch to end the game, didn't get that fastball high enough. Since April 10th he has a 3.40 xFIP and 24 Ks in 18.2 innings He's having the Jeff Hoffman season, sort of, just to a worse degree

    Shrek and Flamingo are beasting this year. Will Robertson having a good one. Old guy. Roden was wrecking AAA after his demotion. Clement and Barger excelling in MLB. I've never heard of Ryan McCarty but I see numbers. Clase and Loperfido, Jimenez and Schneider, Tirotta and Nunez, all treading water at least, Waves of prospects was not a lie. Now do some pitchers.

    Yeah it seems to me that the Lauer/Schultz tandem is probably already better than Francis, so he's the SP5. I don't really agree with Jonah Birenbaum. I don't see an arsenal that plays up much in the pen. Last year, he was a fringe FB guy with two decent secondaries and good command - that is a starter package more than a reliever package. If he was like, 94-95 right now and you could imagine it playing up to 98+ in the pen, then sure do it. But he's going to be a reliever throwing 94/95 just like very other RHRP. Would prefer to let him tinker with grips in AAA. Jays need the SP depth anyway.

    Bowden Francis has -0.7 fWAR, horrible peripherals everywhere, and his Stuff+ has cratered to 93. His breaking ball and splitter have become below average pitches over the offseason. I don't think the team can justify giving him any more turns in the rotation. He does have an option left. Problem is there is nobody to call up. Easton Lucas is getting hammered now in AAA. CJ Van Eyk and Lazaro Estrada are the only AAA or AA SP who have even remotely okay K-BB rates. Michael Dominguez in AA is only a 3 inning "SP". All the good SP prospects are too far away. Yesavage, Stephen, Stanifer, Watts-Brown. Could Lazaro Estrada be better than Francis? Time for a trade.

    Kasevich, Paningo, Robertson, Jimenez - four AAA bats that some other team, somewhere, probably values.

    Hey, Joey Loperfido + Will Wagner landed Yusei Kikuchi recently! They could probably find some crusty veteran who is very much on the block and would be better than Bowden Francis, who probably is not actually an MLB starter if LHB hit him like this.

    1.2 IP on June 1st makes it seem like Turnbull got hurt or maybe they are thinking of having him relieve? Dunno.

    Addison Barger is the Franchise now He is actually going to save the organization

    Jays are 5th in position player WAR but 21st in pitching WAR. Best defensive team in baseball and it's not close. Addison Barger has a .386 xwOBA. Imagine if he is just like this forever? Just a huge muscle bound lefty who destroys the ball every day and throws missiles

    should have been done a while ago but at least they did it now! i don't know how they will work the playing time. it doesn't look like they want to fully platoon Barger; he is in there today at 3B against a LHP. There is a bit of a Lukes-Straw platoon happening but they shouldn't cut into Lukes' playing time in favour of Roden. Clase deserves some PAs and has been contributing. Probably what they should do is DH Springer (worst OAA on the team) full time and platoon both corner spots with Roden+Lukes / Straw+Clase.
