I really think you're right. Well, probably right. AJ Reed also never received big scout love... probably because he's fat. Yet people adore athletic first basemen like it matters at all that Ronald Guzman is thin or Cody Bellinger could maybe play CF if you asked nicely.

Rowdy Tellez actually has a beautiful swing. I've been saying this for over a year. He's mechanically perfect. He has the elite angles, motions, and actions of a David Ortiz, or a Josh Donaldson...

They had it all figured out. Good depth, two way hockey.... They looked like a team that studied the fancy possession stats and implemented them... but it turns out it was incidental. They probably ended up with a strong fancy stats team by targeting grit - by accident (and by being blessed with Patrice Bergeron, super elite elite C and the most underrated player in NHL history.)

That was tough to watch. They basically dealt Lucic and Hamilton - two core players - for a handful of second round picks. I don't know how good Hamilton is or should have been in terms of fancy stats, but when Zdeno Chara is 38 years old flipping your only other possible first pairing defenseman for nothing hurts.

Bell hasn't demonstrated big pop. Maybe he's Brandon Belt in a good outcome? Bellinger hasn't demonstrated basic slashline skills that are required for 1B. Maybe in a few years of tinkering he's Chris Carter? I wouldn't buy any of them unless it's a guy like Tellez or Rhys Hoskins if you can get him for next to nothing in fantasy. The next great MLB 1B will probably be some random failed 3B or OF or C prospect. Some f*** like Zack Collins or, dare I say, Christin Stewart. I'd still take AJ Reed over any of the hot 1B prospects right now. I think.

I saw Bird cheat to get to a couple of fastballs in the 2015 AFL. That's cheating, not skill. Fringe prospect for me.
