  1. Brett Lawrie's year off is endlessly fascinating. I assume that he just didn't want to play, the same way that some 14 year old might get sick of rep sports and quit randomly. I legit think he just preferred to do nothing. I wonder if he'll play next year. Hope Toronto signs him. Neeja
  2. The board is better when it's dead quiet. It sucks because of the technical issues and neglect.
  3. Would Gyorko + Reyes be enough? Gyorko is actually good --- 4.8 fWAR / 6.5 bWAR in his last 919 PA. Under control through 2020 (option year) for $9M, $13M, $13M. He has value. I think Gyorko + Reyes might be about as much as you can reasonably expect. When Atlanta traded one year of Heyward to STL in 2015 (for $7M in salary) they got like 4 years of Shelby Miller in return and a ~B prospect (Tyrell Jenkins; busted). What other recent trades have their been for one year of a superstar? Deadline deals don't count.
  4. That's like, exactly what Billy Bean Counter thought when he targeted Lawrie and Graveman!
  5. I didn't even know Rosenthal was dead. Thought he just had some minor surgery
  6. They have a lot of interesting names to pluck from. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Alex Reyes, Jose Martinez, Stephen Piscotty, Carson Kelly, Luke Weaver Harrison Bader, Mag Sierra, Sandy Alcantara, Jack Flaherty, Tyler O'Neill, Ryan Helsley, John Gant, Tyler Lyons, Matt Bowman, Trevor Rosenthal, Swang Wang Oh, Aledmys Bustaz, Kolten Wong? Jedd Jerko? Randy Grichuk? Edmundo Sosa, Delvin Perez, Dakota Hudson
  7. Aaron Judge must be the all-time King. 205 SO 51 HR 125 BB 11 IBB 5 HBP That's like 60% of his PA ending in TTO result
  8. this board sucks
  9. Joey Gallo is the greatest. 39 HR 31 singles 2.5 WAR
  10. Jason Heyward's two year stats: 243/.316/.353, 18 HR, 107 RBI, .669 OPS in 265 games. lol wtf happened
  11. Yeah I think SG is correct. It makes sense that if a player is dropped during the final week, you should be able to use your Yahoo waiver priority to get him.
  12. The NL MVP race is impossible. Have to think Stanton will win it if he hits 60
  13. Wow, juicy. Didn't even notice those guys were dropped
  14. That's like, worse than his current slash-line and basically his projection, man. Agree that his body is gross. He has a pudgy C/1B/DH body. He reminds me so much of Encarnacion. If I was running the Red Sox I wouldn't hesitate to just slide him into 1B/DH and let him EAT.
  15. No homers on Thursday but still basically splitting offense. Hmmm
  16. I don't actually understand your point. Mine was - the pitching free agency market is bananas. Every stupid deal is "explainable" in some way. The team that would have given Marco a 3 year deal would justify it somehow. It would have been there for him, if he wanted to prioritize that.
  17. Bartolo just got 13M at 45 years old. Ian Kennedy and Mike Leake got like lifetime contacts recently. Didn't Jason Hammel get multiple years after being released? Marco is good! By RA9 WAR he's been as good or better than guys like Tanaka, Strasburg, Cole, Archer in the last three years.
  18. I don't even think Marco is only leaving a few mill on the table. He probably gets a 2 or even 3 year deal in free agency.
  19. woot my boy our dad the nicest blue jay in history
  20. Matt Harvey looks like Jon Hamm's normie, inferior-in-every-way cousin
  21. I'll do this because I hate myself. edit: OMFG HIS NUMBERS ARE HORRENDOUS WTF
  22. That Benintendi kid is having such a weirdly quiet 20/20 rookie season.
  23. Yeah I had a pretty good week, ratios and counting stats all solid. Never really had a chance though. f*** Kluber.
