  1. It's an offensive upgrade more than anything. Oswald Peraza is a very good defender. But they go from a hitter who is not MLB viable in Peraza to whatever McMahon does with the bat
  2. Yeah McMahon is like a 2 WAR (full season pace) upgrade for NYY even if he is a meh hitter
  3. Ryan McMahon has never had a wRC+ over 97
  4. Yeah the Padres probably ruined him. When he was 17 and killing A ball scouts LOVED him but he still had 57 Ks in 48 games and should have been handled more appropriately.
  5. Yariel and Gurriel are in a different bucket but on the baby side yeah their successes have all been bargain bin signings. Kirk and Moreno. Kendry Rojas was a $200k signing. Fernando Perez was a hot dog signee like Kirk. I can't find if Victor Arias was a cheap signee or more of a moderate investment.
  6. Apparently they offered Cease + Ethan Salas + some other prospect for Jarren Duran
  7. Dylan Cease for Daulton Varsho framework Cease is the kind of SP Toronto needs but Varsho is under control for 2026 and also pretty dang good. What would it take as a kicker for you to say yes to that?
  8. I wonder if they will tap the brakes on activating Varsho until they see what trades happen Very possible that dudes from the MLB roster are being traded. The obvious option for Varsho is Loperfido, which is a bit of a shame given how Loperfido has been playing. But JL is also huge trade bait right now because of the Jays' depth and how he is playing. I doubt Wagner, Orelvis, or Clase will draw much interest from other teams. Lukes is too old to be worth much in trade. Schneider and Straw probably aren't super interesting as trade targets either and the Jays kind of need their side of the platoon so they are less likely to be dealt I think. Roden and Loperfido are probably the most likely Buffalo Boys to be traded. From the ones who have MLB experience at least. Shreck and other non 40 man dudes could be dealt of course. Toronto kind of NEEDS to deal some of this depth. Can't keep all these position players. Already lost Wil Robertson for nothing.
  9. It's cool but also pretty hard to get hard when the Jays have whiffed on every big international free agent since Vlad. I think this is everybody since Vlad that got at least $1M Cristopher Polanco (2025) has been ass in the DOSL Emmanuel Bonilla (2023) is horrible Luis Meza (2022) sucks Manuel Beltre (2021) sucks Rikelvin De Castro was a bust Orelvis Martinez was probably a tease Eric Pardinho may never get an MLB inning
  10. On May 28th the Yankees had a 91.,8% chance to win the division and Toronto had a 3.2% chance
  11. I wonder what kind of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) the Jays have switched to at AAA It's funny to me that all of Barger, Schneider, and Loperfido were meh in AAA this year but have been much better in MLB after promotion. And Wagner was also just meh in AAA but has a 159 wRC+ since coming back up in June. They must be working on specific things down there and doing things that the Jays are tracking which don't really translate to being good in games
  12. Need to crush Montero, dude has a 5.26 FIP and it just a boring sinker-slider RHP. In past years random sinker-slider RHP could cause issues for Toronto but they can throw four viable LHB in there today so we should be good
  13. Hard to comp anybody to the A+ prospect in the deal. I think Stanifer and King are clearly more exciting, but guys like Barriera and Maroudis would be worth less. Jays also don't have a good comp for the MLB ready relief prospect. The bucket for "40+ FV" prospects is like 500 names deep so teams are going to have wild variations in valuations on such players
  14. It's a solid return for Naylor. Garcia might be a reliever but his stuff is wicked and they control him forever. I was reading that the other guy is a 2022 high school pick whose stuff jumped a lot this year. Realistically Naylor gives Seattle about 0.8 WAR and then walks. Not an amazing return though. Not sure why Arizona jumped at it.
  15. lmao please stop talking about Severino
  16. I think the minimum every team gets is like $4.75m
  17. The Yankees fans and commentators seem jealous of the Jays' roster construction and it just tickles me pink to be honest
  18. On some of these it seems like the pitch tracking is not accurate. Like if you go frame by frame there, when it is about to enter the glove it's in the zone. I know the camera angle makes it tricky
  19. Yankees have such an awkward roster. They should shake it up huge at the trade deadline. Stanton clogging up DH most games. Cannot man a position even for one inning. Three left handed catchers in Wells, Escarra, and Rice. So they can't play the platoon advantage game at C when deciding when guys play or get days off. Ben Rice can really hit and needs to play but his only "real" position is 1B and to give him run there means putting Goldschmidt in the short side of a platoon. Their best defensive of is Bellinger - Grisham - Judge. But Jasson Dominguez can also really hit. But Jasson Dominguez is inexplicably bad at left field, somehow. So it's kind of like the Ben Rice situation where getting his bat in there is so tempting but you lose so much on defense. Vivas and Peraza should not be on MLB rosters but they are sharing time at 3B until a trade happens. Volpe has the yips and still has not developed with the bat. They are stuck with Stanton and they cannot honestly roster Stanton, Rice, Goldschmidt, and Dominguez at the same time. We might see them trade Rice despite the offensive prowess, and demote Dominguez to work on his defense. Clint Frazier flash backs.
  20. Yeah some of the prior whiny episodes were funnier
  21. Lauer vs Olson Berrios vs Keider Montero Gausman vs Skubal Scherzer vs Flaherty Gotta avoid a "let down" series and at least split this one. Skubal is almost impossible but if any team can put the ball in play and scratch out a few runs on him it's this version of Toronto.
