  1. It's the same thing as Stroman though. Just trade him for some assets and then sign a good reliever next offseason. I hear Ken Giles is set to be a free agent in 2021, he's good, we should trade Giles and then sign that Ken Giles guy. Why do people love extensions so much?
  2. You would assume that the relief pitcher who had recurrent elbow issues last year + has had a rocky career and has already fallen out of favor with a team would have a pretty big appetite for an extension.
  3. Maybe there is a disconnect between his fWAR and his industry WAR (iWAR).
  4. So subjective. Some will think he is. I bet the Angels think he’s a top 50 MLB prospect
  5. In Fantrax each season gets a new league. If you go to the dropdown you should be able to switch from DDL 2019 to the DDL 2020, under "My Leagues". You're looking at the 2019 version of the league (I set it up as a 2019 league due to stupid timing).
  6. That would be *gags* awful.
  7. Vote is now 9-6 in favour of getting rid of all sudden loss compensation.
  8. excuse me but hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm????
  9. I guess if they have even roughly $1.5M it's enough to make a legit overture. Remember Ohtani's signing bonus was only like $2.3M...
  10. Wow, this guy looks like the Japanese Juan Soto.
  11. The Lowrie + Dom Smith thing is such a no-brainer that if it was that simple Toronto or some other team would have already pulled the trigger on it. The Mets must be asking for a non-trivial prospect to make it happen, or something like that. Lowrie isn't even necessarily dead money. He was worth 8.6 WAR in 2017+2018. It's not like he had a catastrophic injury in 2019 either, IIRC it was a knee sprain then a hamstring strain then a calf strain. It's very much within the realm of possibility for him to put up a couple WARs in 2020. He could just be a part-time 2B/DH.
  12. Darwin Barney - AAA Management Domingo German - AAAnger Management
  13. Looks like a top 10 reliever to me, possibly top 5. I would not take him over Josh Hader but there aren't many other obviously better relievers. In dynasty you might put younger guys like Edwin Diaz or Osuna above him, in redraft you probably take Kirby Yates and maybe Chapman over him... Anderson is similar to Ken Giles but I think Anderson has even more upside. This is all for leagues with saves and holds so not really considering closer security.
  14. Maybe "bad" isn't the ideal word. I would say that I guess he's avoiding absolute ruin and that's a good thing, but Robert's signing bonus was $26M so he has already avoided absolute ruin. He should be "absolute ruin proof" - unless the money is gone. He can already retire if he doesn't like baseball. Delaying free agency by even a year can have a gigantic impact.
  15. Any deal that has a prospect with star/superstar upside giving up a free agency year is prima facie a bad deal for the player and this one is no exception. This specific deal could swing either way, of course, but on the balance these extensions will work out in favour of the teams.
  16. The is becoming a meme at this point and it is hilarious to me. Quantity!!!
  17. Sounds like Josh Donaldson might end up with the Twins. That would be a weird uniform to see him in, eh chaps.
  18. Bob who?
  19. Didn’t notice one of these yet. If someone made one I must have them blocked. Let’s use this one either way.
  20. Right. No matter the system there is an arbitrary line somewhere. That’s what I dislike
  21. I'm not happy with the precedents anymore and honestly wish we never started. I know it began with Oscar Taveras and Jose Fernandez, who were more catastrophic losses. Not sure why I/we felt the need to compensate for the lesser guys. It's just so much simpler going forward to not do it at all. Tough luck to the owner whether it's death, retirement, injury, or the law. The vote is 6-4 right now so it could go either way.
  22. Rich Hill and Homer Bailey signed by the Twins. Hill's contract is only a $3M base but his incentives can bring it to $9.5M and he should get there if he can pitch half the year. That's just about a wrap for the SP market. A few interesting names left are Wood, Nova, McHugh, Walker, Nelson, Cashner, Vargas, old friend Aaron Sanchez. I guess interesting is a stretch for some of them. I wonder if Felix Hernandez or Matt Harvey will find a team or will be willing to go to AAA.
