  1. This is like watching a Flat Earthers quarterly meeting
  2. Lots of obvious cases of decent hitters going there and becoming ass
  3. Three GREAT starts in a row and four good ones. He's becoming a story
  4. This chunk of the Fangraphs Vlad article is brutal (sad)
  5. Yimi is getting nuked as a Mariner so far sad
  6. Change it to "an infusion of 45 and 40 FV players" and it is true Certainly a few of them have a shot of being 50 FV dudes but it's more likely they don't end up there. Bloss, Clase, Macadoo, Wagner, Loperfido.
  7. that's not true i don't even like the blue jays
  8. Even Riley Greene is maybe not even that special, lol. jesus christ some of you guys will just deepthroat random players on other teams if it makes the Jays somehow look weak in comparison. Or if you own them in fantasy, I guess. Greene has a career 27.2% K rate, is a bad defender, and presently looks like a 3.5 WAR player or so if he can stay healthy. That's not a STAR. That's not a franchise player. That's a second fiddle stick on a good team. Dude is getting out WAR'd by Daulton Varsho presently and for the foreseeable future lmfao.
  9. It's not MY FAULT that Colt Keith's comps to those guys. It's COLT KEITH's fault!!!! And the point is not that I would take them over Keith. It's just to illustrate that Colt Keith is nothing special.
  10. wet noodle argument
  11. That was not the initial question though. Yes, Detroit has a better set of young players/prospects right now. But connorp said: "No trolling, but who has the better 5 year outlook, including FA spending room and such. All things considered Detroit or Toronto? I feel it’s objectively Detroit for sure." The only reason to pick Detroit seems to be if you have a prospect fetish. The entire discussion is about how much it matters that Detroit has Riley Greene and a "better farm system". Someone needs to look at the data I guess. I don't really even know what else to say. Colt Keith has 400+ MLB PA and Clement and Horwitz are outperforming him this year, so reality says you are a stooge. Chad Ross Atkins can find guys like Colt Keith for free. I don't make the facts I just state them.
  12. I could see the Jays getting over .500 They kept their veteran starters so the rotation of Gausman, Bassitt, Berrios, Francis, Rodriguez is very good compared to any other under .500 team The lineup is decent until you get down to Loperfido and Jimenez. Pen sucks but some of the newer guys don't seem like total stinkers.
  13. Steamer etc. all know how old he is bro You can tell a lot from 400+ MLB PA Colt Keith is a decent player and would be a nice piece to have but under the hood he doesn't look like anything special. His barrel and maxEV rates are kind of in that slop where some good hitters exist (like Bregman, Semien) but lots of guys with no punch live (Benintendi, Josh Rojas, Leody Taveras, Gavin Lux, Jose Cabellero). His BB/K ratio is middling. Power is middling. Defense isn't an asset. So it's a good (not very good) ability to make contact coupled with average power and easily replaceable defensive utility. That's the package! You can very easily compare that total package to Horwitz and Clement. They are older, but Clement has a way better contact ability and Horwitz has a better eye. Clement also has more on the D side. This happens all the time where certain types of young guys look like great prospects in MiLB but they aren't as good as expected in MLB. At least Keith is still very likely a solid MLB player. Alek Thomas' first 400 MLB PA at age 22 showed exactly who he was, in hindsight.
  14. Ross Atkins with a quarter billion dollar payroll >>>>>>>>>> the team inherited by the apathetic son of Mike Illitch, who doesn't even like baseball and has never built a thing himself in his life.
  15. Also, in 2021 the Tigers had the consensus #2 or #3 farm system Didn't do that much for them lol It just doesn't matter as much as they want you to think, unfortunately
  16. Steamer knows how old he is, Dingus
  17. 1.1 WAR in 414 PA projects for 0.4 in 141 PA ROS he's a 1.6 WAR player so far over a full season. below average player. Horwitz and Clement are better by both projections and 2024 performance. It is what it is! Results matter!
  18. The disagreement is more about how little that actually matters. They have a s***** developmental system, per recent history. All of these prospect lists are literally in the business of selling hope to fans of s***** teams. Having one Jackson Jobe and one Kevin McGonigle or whatever does not really get you as far as some people think. Remember that every cool prospect that the Tigers have will be stepping over the corpses of Casey Mize, Matt Manning, Spencer Torkelson, Alex Faedo, etc. Reese Olson and Sawyer GL are already f***ing broken. Keith kind of blows so far. Meadows blows. Wilmer Flores is busting in MiLB. Henry-Malloy seems like a replacement level slugger. Who cares about this collection of kids? It's like saying the Pirates are a good organization. LMFAO.
  19. John Mayo? lol
  20. You guys realize that Colt Keith and Parker Meadows are no better than the Jays younger slop, right? Schneider, Clement, Horwitz, Wagner, etc. Skubal isn't controllable for 5 years. Greene is really good. Carpenter seems like an above average player. Jobe is a pitching prospect.... this is funny
  21. It's not a better pipeline. They've just been s*** forever. I think save for one year, every draft since 2016 they have been in the top half of the first round. And for every good first round pick in that time period they also have a complete bust like Mize, Manning, Tork. Their present farm system isn't obviously better than Toronto's, post deadline.
  22. Imagine how awesomely bad the Vlad - Bo - Horwitz 3B-SS-2B infield would be though I must see it
  23. Toronto because of resources I don't think Detroit has had a top half payroll since Mike Illitch died
  24. RT is now on the Nate Pearson development track my expectation is that he gets called up, kind of sucks, gets hurt, provides basically nothing for a couple more years, and then ends up as a promising but frustrating reliever. Hopefully he can get off that track and just became a 5 and dive SP once he is back healthy, or a closer.
  25. Yeah Schneider has kind of blown his big chance. He's a weak side platoon player now (or bench player) without much defensive utility. I don't know if they have so much depth that they should go trading guys for relievers, though. Most of these guys still have options. For example, if they sign a 3B and LF this is how it could shake down out of camp: Horwitz - DH Wagner - 2B LF - Mr. Outside Hire 3B - Mr. Outside Hire Leo Jimenez - on the bench, covers all infield spots (no options) Loperfido - on the bench, covers all OF spots (options) Clement - on the bench, covers all infield spots and is a viable hitter / fringe starter (no options) Barger - AAA (options) Schneider - AAA (options) Martinez - AAA (options)
