This guy seems intriguing. Has been playing SS so he might be a decent bet to be at least an average-ish 2B defensively. Eligible to sign Feb 19th. 23 years old. What type of price tag are we looking at here? Anyone know more?

I'm guessing that Alcides is basically just a skinny little twerp that doesn't hit the ball hard. xBABIP is (probably) just based on LD%, GB%, FB%, IFH%, HR/FB%, IFFB%. If you hit a lot of girly line drives, xBABIP will give you too much credit. What we need here is ball speed off the bat splits. Mean LD speed would be a neat thing to use. I know that hittracker website has speed off the bat data for home runs..

Almost every BABIP spike (or dip) comes with a correlated rise/fall in LD%. LD% is a dubious stat. I'm saying this off the cuff here, but I feel that it's not like players who get BABIP lucky have a s*** ton of little loopers and lazy fly-balls drop in. No, the players who get BABIP lucky tend to get credited with an unsustainable amount of line drives. Some of this is quality contact that's above their true talent, and some of it might be stringer bias (tendency to call a single a LD, while a fielded ball might have been called a groundout or whatever).

Silvergun has Sano and Hamilton. Even if those were his only prospects, that would have to be a top five farm. Top 100 lists aren't always extremely relevant to fantasy either. Is Austin hedges even a top 150 fantasy prospect?

I think it's a pretty fair deal TBH. As Stras had demonstrated, even phenom arms are flaky assets. I like the idea of trading down, getting Hill for now, and still being able to add someone like Alex Jackson to the farm (or young Beedah!). Not that I have any idea if those two names should even be in the convo at #5.

Yup, if you are going to be AFK just make your decisions early. Nothing wrong with cutting early. What we'll do is have everyone simply make a reply to their team "Roster" thread on proboards. That way we can track who has and has not made their snips! Format will be a numbered list. 20 big leaguers and 12 prospects (or less) must be listed. If anybody is late making cuts for whatever reason, they obviously get a strike, some dirty looks, and their roster gets frozen until they cut down.

Which cut deadline works best for everyone? Sun Feb 16th at 11:59 pm, or Sun Feb 23rd at 11:56 pm Waiver draft would commence precisely one week hence, on the proboards. This is all assuming that Yahoo is up in time. Superbowl is the 2nd (right?), so I'm guessing Yahoo Fantasy Baseball will be up by like, Tuesday the 11th.
