Cleveland doesn't have a lot of money. I like Brantley well enough. Two-way player that seems like a safe bet to not suck, brings 3 win upside. Bat to ball skills, walks enough, runs the bases, can poke a few, cover CF (to some extent). If it's 4 sub-market years, then it could be smart.

Maholm is under market but most of that is Kevin Towers' learning disability.

I find it kind of hilarious that the Dodgers didn't just give him $6M or whatever. They act like money doesn't matter for years, and then all of a sudden it's hardball with Paul Maholm.

That's who I have penciled in, but Norris misses more bats and I'm not sure if I'm being mislead by Harrison's ERA in 2012 and 2011. Two years doesn't make someone a DIPS beater.

Who has more 2014 upside - Zach McAllister, Bud Norris, Matt Harrison, or NL Jason Hammel? Toss up for my 20th keep... pitching is hard to find midseason so I figure I'll keep an SP6. These guys all have some things to like (and more to dislike). Keep lottery ticket Jon Villar, or keep 2 of those ^ arms? Someone give me advice so I can do the opposite.

Cuts made: Dinger No49 KingKat Havok Sammy BTS Boxy TCA FTD Still have to make cuts (one week left): Realmin Hurl GP JF Zeros TOfan silvergun speedygose spanky jaysblue fearless leader Reminder that all cuts once posted anywhere are final, and the enforcement of this rule is doled out at my (and Dinger/BTS') discretion. Only two managers currently has an excess prospect (Jays Fever and Silvergun, in case someone was looking to acquire a penny stock before the season starts). We f***ed up somewhere because silvergun and speedygose both are listed with waiver pick #88, so some clarification there would be kewl. Please check your rosters for any errors and discrepancies. Administration note: if you have 6 waiver picks and you submit a cutdown roster of 20 names, then your 6th pick immediately vanishes into the ether. To use the extra pick, you would have to only keep 19 dudes.

Terrible team, but at least it's stupid young. A couple of breakouts + some good adds and maybe you can finish as high as 16th or so...... in 2016. On that note, If I were you I would keep Didi and cut Chavez.

Not really, Arroyo's profile is a lot different. If anything it helps their case since Arroyo might have gotten more than expected, and now $13M for someone like Ubaldo might be looked at as kind of cheap in comparison to Arroyo. But the Garza deal is a better rough barometer. Much better. Take the injury discount that was applied to Garza and rename it the draftpick discount to apply it to Ubaldo or poopface.

That's a very specific argument supporting nutshell. Give any team in baseball five million bucks and there would, hypothetically, be a way to spend it that trumps buying a reliever. Any team. Ever. Good GMs sometimes buy relievers, but probably not before exhausting an extensive list of other options. Maybe you run Tampa Bay and you have a few bucks for some weird reason and the off-season is almost over and your manager keeps telling you how much he loves grant balfour, so you just say f*** it and swallow the bitter pill of inefficiency.
