  1. Ernie's plate approach reminds me a lot of Blue Jays legend Kevin Pillar. A more extreme version, but Pillar had this general approach where he would chase all the time but make a lot of contact and then for some reason take pitches in the zone too often. I always thought Pillar had a 60 hit tool with a minus eye and this was how he compensated.

  3. Yeah I'd do $15M for Verlander or Scherzer in a heartbeat. Only paying them for like 1.5 wins at that rate and they can probably ignore their bodies and but together one more 3+ WAR season before leaving it all on the field in the playoffs.
  4. This "Cardinals live" twitter guy is clearly just a poser. Future threads started based on his posts will probably just get deleted or merged somewhere
  5. I f***ing love being able to paste tables omg.
  6. It's funny. If you go on Fangraphs and look at 1B depth chart projections, sorted by fWAR, he is around so many players that have been signed or traded this offseason. So, pretty easy to figure out his market value I guess. The only real wrinkle is the chance to coach up his defense which doesn't rely exist with any of the others. 14 Spencer Horwitz PIT 113 490 12 56 52 3 12.7% 19.1% .150 .316 .267 .368 .416 .345 119 -1.0 10.3 -6.6 2.1 15 Josh Naylor ARI 143 616 24 78 87 7 8.3% 15.9% .188 .286 .268 .335 .456 .338 116 -1.6 10.1 -10.7 2.1 16 Jake Burger TEX 143 616 30 76 85 2 6.2% 26.8% .210 .287 .243 .301 .453 .324 112 -0.8 7.3 -8.4 2.0 17 Paul Goldschmidt NYY 147 637 24 79 82 8 9.5% 26.1% .181 .309 .250 .325 .431 .328 114 -0.5 9.9 -12.2 2.0 18 Nolan Schanuel LAA 136 588 16 71 63 8 11.9% 16.6% .142 .289 .258 .355 .400 .334 117 -0.7 10.8 -11.6 1.9 19 Nathaniel Lowe WSN 144 623 18 71 73 2 11.4% 22.1% .153 .312 .258 .347 .411 .333 114 -2.7 7.9 -10.0 1.9 20 Spencer Steer CIN 138 595 21 73 73 16 10.5% 21.0% .187 .279 .244 .332 .431 .333 107 0.3 5.4 -8.3 1.7 21 Michael Busch CHC 143 616 22 73 76 3 10.4% 27.6% .179 .301 .236 .322 .416 .322 109 -1.0 5.7 -9.6 1.7 22 Ryan Mountcastle BAL 122 525 20 61 68 3 6.9% 23.8% .180 .305 .257 .312 .438 .324 114 -0.5 8.0 -9.8 1.6 23 Carlos Santana CLE 138 595 21 68 73 3 10.7% 18.1% .170 .257 .236 .322 .406 .318 109 -1.5 4.6 -9.0 1.6
  7. Is there a position to hide Spencer Steer at? He's a pretty good hitter... would maybe be the 4th best stick on the Jays if acquired right now.
  8. I think there just aren't that many free agent contracts so far this offseason that Toronto would have in fact wanted to give out. They talk to everybody and end up in every rumour but that doesn't mean they are making offers and getting turned down. Soto and Ohtani aside.
  9. Rooker is 30 years old and has made league minimum his whole career and is still subject to three more arb years. Can't blame him for playing it safe and securing his family forever. One injury and it's gone!
  10. Ppl said this last year then they still needed to trade for help they all got hurt
  11. Also, Jays will get THE BEST minor league signings this year. Top of the s*** pile.
  12. Jays farm lowkey underrated If it is possible to both suck and be underrated
  13. Might be another middling move. His velo down a bit, possible he is an SP3 or so going forward. Remaining contract: 2025 32 Seattle Mariners $24,150,000 7.101 2026 33 Seattle Mariners $24,150,000 2027 34 Seattle Mariners $24,150,000 2028 35 Seattle Mariners *$25,000,000 $25M Vesting Option option dependent on time injured between 2025 and 2027 and 2027 I
  14. It can be seen at every level. MLB level, Manoah died, Romano died, the entire bullpen died. Expect Bowden Francis and Y Rod to be sitting 89 in spring. Jake Bloss won't get out of AAA all season. 5.00+ ERA and complete loss of prospect status within 12 months. Adam Macko had a 4.87 ERA in AA last year at 23 years old... and that is a guy who supposedly had a decent year. lol! Trey Yesevage must pray for a trade every night. Oh baby Jesus, trade me to the Mariners, pretty please.
  15. I still think Jim's idea of a "no sub-forums" toggle for users was genius. Make the display optional. If toggled on, all threads in every subforum just get listed by latest activity. I wonder if that is possible.
  16. Every team has a graveyard of pitching prospects You could say that one of the main reasons the Braves have won is because of a few key developmental wins on the SP depth chart. Strider was a huge win (RIP) now they have Schewellenbach who is also very good. And they were very smart on the Sale and Reynaldo deals. Some of the above wins are because of aggressive or progressive decision making. They have SOMETHING going on there that is interesting and good, compared to Toronto's flat developmental track record, even if AA is doing AA things and not completing his 40 man roster optimally.
  17. Hidden temporarily because of bad words I think
  18. I think it depends on how much activity there is. A bunch of subforums without active or high volume posting does not make sense. On the old board we didn't really need a bunch of subforums, and some of our general threads worked fine, because there was not a huge amount of discussion happening. If this place gets way busier then a rumour area could make sense but right now it's just segregation for the sake of segregation and a bit OCD. On a more general note... people just need to be self aware of the obvious conflict of interest. Ownership wants the message board to grow. The old posters liked a place that was familiar and of a certain pace so they probably don't really want it to grow or change. It just is what it is. Things will be different, some people won't like it.
  19. Difference between permanent threads and one time things
  20. The message board dynasty leagues are just a circle jerk with the same 20 dudes participating. Pathetic and sad! They don't even play for money!!!
  21. Honestly who GAF if you don't think something needed a thread. Just... don't respond. It's not like we would delete stupid little threads on the old board. They would just die because nobody replied. Spanky is half of the posts in a thread he dislikes. Irony!
  22. Not how it works exactly He was DFAd yesterday, Dodgers have five days to trade him or else he goes on waivers and could then be claimed
