  1. Bautista for sure is a little bit arrogant. I can't really think of anybody else though. Pompey - Canadian Donaldson - voice too high pitched Edwin - too quiet and humble Reyes - too smiley Travis - too little Martin - Canadian Hutch - too handsome and quiet Buehrle - too respectful Norris - too enlightened and self-aware Norris - too baby faced Dickey - too wise Pillar - too dumb and gritty For real though, I guess Norris is a bit of a doucher and Dickey can come off as conceited. Stroman with his gum popping is a little cocky.
  2. It's funny because a lot of Blue Jays fans, including myself, would feel the same way about Baltimore (I don't hate every player though, just some). Hopefully the birds can become long term rivals atop the division. Those shades of Blue and Orange are just made to oppose each other. That's why the Blue-Orange box of nerds is the highest seller.
  3. IIRC the ump actually warned the dugouts right after the pitch, so that might have contributed to Bautista's gut reaction that it was intentional. The ump certainly had the sense that it was on purpose. And then Nova sort of chirping back in a "what are you gonna do about it" demeanor might have escalated the situation. I don't really see much to criticize on Bautista's behalf.
  4. Yikes, his velo is way down this year. Most of his FBs were 89/90 today and he only touched 92. Normally sits 92/93. Henderson does the 'show the ball to CF' thing that Matt Harvey does. He also might short arm it a bit (short deceleration path for the arm) but not sure about that. I wonder if mechanics, and resulting injury risk factor, were part of the decision to trade him. FWIW Syndergaard's timing seems a bit off too and he's had a couple of forearm strains with New York. Of course it's not like Sanchez has better mechanics.
  5. And his shoulder! WTF Hendo. Entire arm must be rotten.
  6. What's more improbable or crazy, Andrelton pulling off this play or doing it right after that specific flashback on the broadcast? https://streamable.com/gcl5
  7. sometimes I forget that you're a troll
  8. Why do you keep going on about their f***ing bullpen? Most of the arms who are pitching tonight threw like, 1 inning two days ago. Wright did them a big favour eating innings during the long game and last night Joe Kelly pitched 7 innings. They also have an off day on the horizon. They're fine.
  9. Just in case you didn't already think that things like free agent compensation and competitive balance picks were really, really stupid... http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/04/dodgers-os-take-new-approach-in-ryan-webb-trade.html Dodgers basically bought the O's competitive balance pick for 2.75 million bucks. Yay competitive balance!
  10. lol Gregorius is a disaster. Shane Greene is legit too.
  11. Shame that the first couple of catchers to get injured didn't lead to good Navarro trade fits. Boston in the division, Cleveland likes framing too much. Need Saltalamacchia or someone to get injured.
  12. Boogers has looked decent for Boston early on. Guy was as good of a prospect as Mookie before his garbage 2014. Red Sox have just an embarrassment of riches on that side of the ball. I still can't understand signing Hanley AND Pablo. Should have just signed one of them, used the other money on a starter.
  13. People (judges, arbitrators) imply terms in contracts all of the time. It doesn't have to be explicitly stated. They would try to get at the "spirit" of the clause, as best then can, by reading the entire agreement. IMO the spirit of the clause - what the parties had in mind - is that the Yankees would be benefiting from him succeeding and reaching those milestones as much as A.Rod would be. In reality that's not going to happen though. I would like A Rod's chances in an arbitration but I think there's at least some merit to the Yankee's position.
  14. I actually find that kind of interesting. In the contract it's labelled as a "marketing agreement" that he gets $6M for passing each of five HR milestones. I don't think they'll try to redefine "milestone". I think the obvious angle is to say that because of Alex's conduct he's defamed himself and the Yankees so much that the Yankees have lost all marketing opportunities from him passing those milestones. If Rodriguez passing those milestones is no longer marketable then, at fault by his own conduct, he should not benefit from the marketing agreement.
  15. I like Kruk
  16. The team is Shulman, Kruk, Schilling, and Olney on the sidelines.
  17. Dan Shulman?
  18. sly mofo bts benches clay buttholez before he got murked tonight.
  19. Anyone else cheering for A-Rod to set some new career highs this season?
  20. There might not be a SP in the game that I enjoy watching get hit around more than Clay Buckles. Oh, maybe Ivan Nova. Or Horse Face.
  21. Yankees. Tanaka is going to strikeout 11.
  22. Betances Castro Strickland Diekman Jumbo Diaz Jairo Diaz Randall "The Handle" Delgado
  23. gritty performance by brryant - lot bts to claw back a couple of pitching ratios at the last minute.
  24. can't really see it without slo-mo / stills but his arm is a bit late.
  25. He's been on the watch list for a while. Mechanics aren't great + small stature + past elbow stiffness/soreness.
