  1. I'd rather use Izturis in a trade package for other needs. I think he still holds value being removed only one year of being productive. Goins is cheaper and is a shut down defender.
  2. Omar Infante could be an interesting possibility, with Goins on the bench to come in defensively to close out close games.
  3. Bottom line is this team has to increase its baseball IQ and improve its defense before anything else. Lind being primarily a LH DH shouldn't damage the team much, because he's as dumb as a stump. If the likes of a DeRosa or equivalent is our RH DH option, then i'd rather have Loney's baseball IQ and solid defense combined with a .290 / .340 type line drive bat in the line up everyday at first base.
  4. Lind platooned with a good right handed hitter with EE at first will be more productive overall. The question is will AA find a solid right handed bat that can mash lefties? If not,i would prefer Loney as our everyday first baseman with EE DHing 75-80% of the time. EE scares me when he has to start a DP.
  5. WTF? He hit .299 against lefties last year and is a career .256 hitter versus them.
  6. Na, i just use the hood of my van.
  7. Ok seriously. Who adds more value to the team, Lind or Loney?
  8. Desk? I'm a f***ing plumber.
  9. Loney adds more than the statistical differences state by a landslide, and no i'm not a Mark DeRosa fan.
  10. Do you seriously stand behind this statement?
  11. My ass he gets $8mil per.
  12. You can't use exceptions as the norm.
  13. LOL.. How many times has Lind saved an infielder's ass by scooping a bad throw versus Loney? How many assists as a first baseman on a season's average does Loney have over Lind? Range factor? Arm strength and accuracy? Please buddy.
  14. Adam Lind has NO DEFENSIVE VALUE. EE DHing 75% of the time with Loney at first base is a massive improvement to the team. Yes or no?
  15. Because it improves our infield defense dramatically, and solid pitching and defense is what wins championships.
  16. Since 2006.. Loney 11.0 WAR Lind 6.3 WAR Loney has roughly 600 more PA during that time frame. Lind put up a 4.o WAR in 2009 and hasn't touched anything above 0.5 in that span except for last years 1.9. Loney has pit up four + 2 WAR seasons in the same time period with a 2.7 WAR in 2013 and is a valuable defender. For $4mil less i'd take it. Check out his career defensive stats, pretty impressive.
  17. You're a stooge.
  18. Loney can probably be had for 2/$6mil type deal and we lose what,-3 on wRC+? IMO,that's value. The $4mil saved can go elsewhere, like maybe signing Ruiz?
  19. Nit pick much? He's a career .285 hitter and hit .299 last year. His bat is not a prototypical one at first, but if there is enough power in the rest of the line up,he's a good fit. The only reason his career average isn't higher is because the Dodgers tried to turn him into a hitter that he is simply is not and was glad to gtfo of there. He hits a lot of doubles and has a high baseball IQ,just the type of infusion this team needs. He's a top five glove at first easily. So tell me again what doesn't matter.
  20. Bottom line.. Loney is a. 300 hitter and is a tough out. I prefer Loney ' s bat over Lind' s and Melky ' s and we get GG defense at first, that's huge. Trading Lind for other needs and signing Loney improves the team guaranteed. Let's not get to caught up in Streamer projections.
  21. I can totally see this. I think Melky 's health is a huge concern and cannot be counted on. Lind will be packaged for a starter and Loney will be signed, a Seitzer kind of guy. EE DH' s 75% of the time, with Loney 's GG defense at first.
  22. AA will probably end up trading him for John Danks.
  23. The 1-0 or 2-0 pitches EE got this year vs what he would of got if there were a legit bat behind him is night and day. He would received way more pitches to drive if he had protection. EE just had a monster discipline / pitch recognition type year which in turn helped protect his numbers. If you think its a s simple as "see the ball, hit the ball", then you're a fool. EE's numbers would of been crazy good this year if he had a legit hitter batting after him, especially in the power department.
  24. There's NO WAY DeRosa and Goins can be on the 25 man to start the year. Obviously Goins brings more to the table and is slightly cheaper( irrelevant amount anyway). If DeRosa is part of the season starting 25 man and Goins is not, AA has legitimately got to go. My fear, and probably most likely,is that both DeRosa and Goins start the year on the 25 man.
