I agree with everything you're saying, especially with this year being an assessment year. This is what makes the Grichuk extension baffling because he should have used this year's performance as part of his decision. Nobody was going to steal Randal Grichuk away from us in the off season.

My point is that when a player makes an out, you would like the outs to be productive if possible. Striking out with a man on second base with no out opposed advancing the runner by putting the ball in play is huge. Stats don't differentiate the type of outs that are made. Pay attention.

Goins was a big part of the 2015/16 runs and wasn't making $11M per season.
