  1. You can easily argue they overpaid for Springer. And Ryu.
  2. Right. End of the day I don’t give a s*** who we add, so long as the roster is better and they actually do something in the playoffs. I’d be 100% on-board with trading away the entire roster to get younger if it meant we still sneak into the playoffs. I just want a good team.
  3. I agree. Still sucks we missed out on Ohtani. Would have been such a thrill to sign literally THE top guy in the sport. But I have no doubt we’ll still sign someone big for 100+ million this year. Just seems we can never get those S-tier free agents. We have been able to get some of the A-tier guys like Gausman and Springer though
  4. Yeah feels like they have to go big somewhere now. Yamamoto or Bellinger. Plus im pretty confident they’ll swing a big trade with Tiedemann going the other way.
  5. Time to hang up the badge forever forever. Mods should lock and nuke this thread
  6. By all accounts, seems like the Jays were literally hours away from winning the Ohtani sweepstakes. At the 5 yard line, but the Dodgers came in last minute with that huge overpay. f***ing frustrating. I’ll feel better if we can make a deep playoff run though.
  7. Seems the Jays are consistently considered favorites to win the division and/or top 5 to win it all, and they massively underperform every single year. s*** gets tiring
  8. Bellinger, Hoskins/Soler/Pederson for DH, trade for a 3B, sign starting depth. That’s the offseason
  9. That’s a pretty big loophole if true, and completely goes against the whole point of the luxury tax
  10. Nah he was leaning Dodgers all along, we would have needed to top their offer to have a shot. And even then, Dodgers might have been willing to go up to 800 and beyond.
  11. I think we’ll go for Bellinger for LF/RF. Provides backup for 1B in case Vlad leaves. And then maybe a trade for 3B somewhere. Really worried about Belly’s bat though
  12. Its is. It counts towards luxury tax. But in reality, Dodgers aren’t paying 250 mil + the tax. They’re paying like 150 mil + the tax.
  13. Yup im surprised we were even a consideration. It was always clear Ohtani wanted to go to the Dodgers. Shatkins and Rogers tried. Can’t be mad. 700 million is stupid money
  14. Apparently Betts and Freeman have a ton of deferred money in their contracts too. Kinda ********. Almost expecting another strike/lockout from the rest of the owners next CBA. Owners will want a salary cap, players wont. You know the drill…
  15. Don’t fool yourself, he preferred to go to the Dodgers from the start.
  16. On the other hand, it will be very nice to see Ohtani finally get some playoff glory. Really hope the Angels will move Trout while he’s still an elite bat
  17. Yeah seems like Dodgers initial offer was around 500 million, Jays “godfather” offer upped it to 600, and the Dodgers came back with 700. Jays would’ve probably needed to go up to 800 if they wanted Ohtani.
  18. We all knew it would be the Dodgers, just hoping we could land a big fish just once
  19. At the end of the day, Ohtani is 1 person and he gets the final decision. If he wants to play for a “winner” than the Dodgers make the most sense.
