It's probably better to have 2 of the top 8 rather than 1 and 12 in a draft like this. I only looked at the list very quickly but it seems extremely top heavy towards the Top 10ish, with no clear-cut #1. Ideal draft spot IMO is probably #2 or 3.
This seems like an awful lot of outrage and combativeness for a 35 year old 1 WAR player on a one year deal in a rebuilding season. Can you all please try caring less?
Yes but if he did the job without clearly financially favouring his former colleagues, it would be possible to give him the benefit of the doubt. He literally just gave more of the Wilpons money than he had to to his former client, and his pals get 10% commission on that vig. Ballsy.
So let’s see... former co-head of CAA agency gives CAA player an above market arb salary from his new employer’s coffers, while his old colleagues enjoy an extra $200,000 in commission. How is this not a blatant conflict of interest?
I feel like you’d be the first person complaining that Danny Jansen isn’t getting enough PT if Martin was still a Jay by mid-season. I don’t agree with your premise that having Martin around for vetrin presents in a write-off season is more valuable than two s***** prospects and a handful of change. Either way it really doesn’t seem consequential.
Isn't Tulo still on the books for 2020 @ $18M? And Stroman @ arb cost, if he's still around. But yes, a ridiculously low committed payroll, enough to make some major splashes and put some all-star MLB talent around Vlad/Bo/Jansen.
This is what's best for Danny Jansen's development. No sense in holding onto Russell in a lost year if we can get a couple moderately interesting prospects by eating his salary. We are eating his salary either way!
