There is some internet speculation that the Braves didn’t realize Gausman would be irrevocably waived. I assume this isn’t true, because man that would be some staggering incompetence.

Since acquiring him I’v surged into 4th place, so I really can’t complain. I prefer to look at the gestalt, rather than focusing on how much better my team could be if I had, say, kept Juan Soto, or chosen Bellinger over Stanton in the expansion draft.

I would have SWR ahead of Kay, Kirk, and probably Pardinho and Manoah.

It does go a long way to explaining how a team with Trout, Bellinger, and a trash heap of impotent bats somehow has you in 5th place.

Marcus Stroman isn’t half the douche that Bauer is. Terry Francona walked right up to him on the field and said “What the f*** is wrong with you?” At least Bauer had the dignity to apologize profusely. He could have seriously injured a fan, to say nothing of the sportsmanship aspect. He will surely be suspended and fined also, but won’t miss more than a start. f***ing idiot. This is actually far worse than what David Wells did, and that’s been on the blooper reel for 20+ years.

It does feel kinda gross but I try to keep in mind that our front office has an excellent track record of identifying high level pitching talent - Kluber, Bauer, Carrasco, Clevinger, Bieber, etc.

Stroman was probably super pissed to be traded to a non-contender. Can’t blame him there.
