  1. Alford = Gose with muscle
  2. Yeah but Eric Hosmer f***ing sucks so
  3. Do you mean BORED first round draft pick David Jacob?
  4. Only one of them has to play in the field at a time, I can live with that. We have plus defense at all the key positions, I'm not that worried about 1B and corner OF.
  5. Perfect comp for Thames: Khris Davis. He's black, he's jacked, and he's a one-dimensional slugger with a noodle arm in LF.
  6. Because they have a lot of payroll to spend and can be competitive this year with a couple key additions. Beane doesn't really do full strip-down rebuilds.
  7. f***ing eh. Would love to get Beltran.
  8. They have less than $40M committed on the books this year after spending $86M last year. You could probably bump that up to $88-90M. They have a lot of money to spend and they're wide open at 1B/DH.
  9. I'm gonna throw out a total shot in the dark and say the A's sign Encarnacion.
  10. Anybody looking for a closer? Tony Watson is available for a prospect. Darren O'Day is also available and very cheap.
  11. Yeah I concluded that catchers in KBO must just be really freaking terrible. Perhaps base stealing isn't a big part of the game over there and as a result pitchers don't make use of slide steps or have good pickoff moves.
  12. The worse a baserunner they are, they better they need to hit to compensate. Edwin is an average-ish baserunner, so the gap between their bats is greater than it appears at first glance. You won't see Morales taking extra bases or breaking up double plays.
  13. Most users here prefer to reference wRC+ when we talk about offensive production, it takes park factors into account. Any way you slice it, EE is a much better hitter and baserunner than Morales. The latter is especially being overlooked, Morales is one of the worst baserunners in the entire league.
  14. From BP today: Anthony Alford, CF, Toronto Blue Jays (AFL Mesa Solar Sox): 1-4, BB, 2 R, K, 3 SB, E. Earlier in the fall I noted Alford’s encouraging early performance, and he has since maintained an impressive pace. Yesterday’s outburst on the bases gives him a league-leading 11 bags, to go along with seven extra-base hits in 72 at-bats. His advanced approach has shown up, too, though some extreme swing-and-miss has persisted as well. His is a bat that may take some time in the higher minors, but the tools are awfully exciting.
  15. He won't cost a 1st rd pick, he's a better hitter, he's 2 years younger, and he has a safer skillset. Presumably, he'll also be cheaper than Desmond.
  16. He's never done any of those things.
  17. I don't really give a s*** if he's a douche. He is, but so is Donaldson, and we're all more than happy to let that slide. People want to run Jose out of town like he's f***ing R.A. Dickey. If he leaves, that's ok, but let's not act like he's the giant burden we're finally free of. The dude was absolutely incredible for us and had a HOF peak that no other team enjoyed but us, and he was underpaid the entire time.
  18. I was too young to remember that, although I certainly remember everybody turning on him when he spat in that ump's face.
  19. Sweet! Now we can all join hands and s*** on the greatest hitter in the history of the franchise. by wRC+
  20. I could see the Mets eating $3-5 million depending on the prospect they get. I don't mind Bruce at somewhere around $9M, you're basically betting on him to be a 1 WAR player. He could easily have a good year and double or triple that value, and I don't think we're talking about a Top 5 Jays prospect going their way in return.
  21. Hell yes to Josh Reddick if it only costs the same as the Happ contract. I'm not panicking about Bruce though, I have a feeling that Shatkins would only take him on an Upton-like deal. I wouldn't mind him for an extremely cheap price. If you DH him a lot and platoon him appropriately, I think he could be a contributor.
  22. I'm driving this train. This is the perfect time to buy Cutch for so many reasons.
  23. I'm not so sure. If it's just a way of saying a guy has a rigid swing, that can be a problem, mostly against breaking balls. I think Reed will be good, but who knows.
  24. I was actually referring to Maikel Franco. I like AJ Reed, I was one of his most ardent proponents coming into 2016.
