  1. I remember hearing about holes in Anthony Rizzo's swing right around the time San Diego gave up on him. Obviously that would be a dream outcome, but Tellez' AA numbers are comparable.
  2. That's a lot Mrs. z3r0s! That looks great.
  3. Ultimately there is a big talent difference between AA and MLB, that's what it comes down to. I'm rooting for Tellez but there will probably be a few rough years of adjustment, if he ever becomes an impact hitter. He's like A.J. Reed but without the hype. Guys can mash in AA and completely fall apart against better pitching if there's an exploit in the swing, and there have been many naysayers who doubt Tellez' swing against MLB pitching.
  4. bart 12:23 Where do you stand on Rowdy Tellez? Despite putting up great numbers he is ranked quite low on prospect lists and there is a popular opinion that his bat won't translate to the majors. Eric A Longenhagen 12:24 I'm skeptical because we all saw him struggle with good pitching for six weeks last fall but I've talked to scouts who saw him this year and they've said he's improved. I think Jays fans are allowed to be cautiously optimistic that they might have a big league contributor coming up to replace the power they've lost but this isn't a player I'm targeting in dynasty leagues or anything like that.
  5. Probably concerned by the lack of ISO and has to cut a prospect.
  6. Someone process my deal plz
  7. Playing OF isn't just about catching balls. Arm strength for throws to 3B and home has always been a major consideration in who plays RF.
  8. That goes for a lot of players. Even the other players on the team would be embarrassed and angry on their behalf.
  9. Because unlike an infield shift where everybody moves over, swapping your good defensive outfielder with a lesser one is offensive and embarrassing to one of the players.
  10. I don't agree with everything he says, but that also goes for every single poster on this board.
  11. Because the delta in salary allowed us to sign Pearce additionally without affecting the bottom line, I would think that's obvious. Also please include the draft pick in your math. We offered him fair market value and he turned it down. The only person you can reasonably blame is his agent.
  12. I don't go to Stoeten for analysis, I go to him for pith, wit, and cynicism. He is the voice of Jays fans who actually have some idea of how baseball actually works and who care about the things that matter. I dare any of you to try to churn out that level of content for this many years. It could fill several books, and he didn't monetize it for a very long time. I respect his dedication and I enjoy his voice. I don't expect him to be Tom Tango and I wouldn't read him if he tried to be that.
  13. If only the board blog was 10% as successful as his!
  14. You are obsessed. I'm not sure why you're so convinced that Edwin is better than Morales + Pearce + the draft pick. You never should have expected Edwin to re-sign here, that's the nature of free agency.
  15. We also should have found two Dominican journeymen in their late 20s and have them spontaneously emerge as elite sluggers for 5 years.
  16. Stoeten is a lottttt smarter than you. Like a lot a lot.
  17. Stoeten, as usual, captures my sentiment on this topic: So... yeah. Bautista back to the Jays? For f*** sakes, just do it already.
  18. I would like Jose back, but no more RF please. At least hide his arm in LF.
  19. That estimate is utterly off base. You couldn't get Jose for 2/30, let alone 3/30.
  20. Yeah really I'd be good with any combination of 2 of Moss, Bautista, Valbuena, and Carter. I don't see any scenario where Smoak is a starter so I'm not even giving him any consideration.
  21. Oh wow... I am actually pretty surprised to see he is a career positive in RF and LF UZR. You could pick up Moss and Carter for probably 60% of EE's total AAV. 2B Travis 3B Donaldson DH Morales LF Pearce SS Tulo RF Moss 1B Carter C Martin CF Pillar That would be a very competitive lineup with a lot of power.
  22. We'll probably looking to pay him something like 2 years, $14M. He's a pretty good bet for 25 HR and 1-2 WAR.
  23. I don't really love the idea of Moss and Pearce in our corners, but really, they probably aren't any worse defensively than Bautista + Saunders.
  24. I can dig it. Cheap, above average hitter. I'll take Chris Carter too and ditch Smoak.
  25. The only way I'd ever do a destination wedding is if they're so rich they pay for airfare and hotel. So never.
