  1. I just assumed he was going to carry a .358 ISO for his entire career.
  2. He has an incredible arm and plus power. His approach is... questionable. However, he has been an above average hitter at every level. Scouts also routinely say that his raw power is better than he's shown in games. Actually his profile is a lot like Sanchez before he broke out. Alfaro AA line (167 games) - .273/.324/.449 Sanchez AA line (191 games) - .265/.335/.424 Catcher development is non-linear, as they say. You can't teach tools tho.
  3. Did you learn nothing from Gary Sanchez? C prospects that pan out are the Holy Grail. Most sites have Alfaro above Mejia, but I'm with you.
  4. Let's change the topic and talk about Top 50 prospect Francisco Mejia.
  5. 3 of the shrewdest owners in this league have already inquired on him down low. I won't name names. I'll probably hold him just because I have so little invested in him and the payoff is substantial. He has very little trade value at the moment. I don't always talk guys up with the intention of trading them, sometimes I'm just a fan. He can marry a .200 ISO with elite BB% and ~40 SB. He's kinda like Chris Carter but trade some HR for SB and give him CF eligibility. I think his counting stats can look like peak Carlos Gomez.
  6. Perfect time to buy cheap (although not from me). Those sad, antiquated projection systems don't even consider his elite exit velo.
  7. Keon Broxton is better than all those guys
  8. So in the end you swapped A.J. Pollock and Felix Hernandez for Marte. Not bad considering the first two guys could be substantially broken. If healthy, Pollock and Marte are probably very similar, but nobody is losing sleep over Felix these days.
  9. Yeah, I wasn't going to part with him for Marte. You did well to get a legit ace for him, and if I were you, I would have preferred to keep Arenado over Marte too (easily).
  10. True, they're both pretty flaky in general. Sometimes you just gotta close a deal when it's there.
  11. Everyone loves to dote on MadBum, but he quietly lost 1.2 MPH this year. It was right from the start of the season, and it's part of the reason I was willing to part with him. Something to watch going forward. He could conceivably dip below 90 MPH avg in 2017.
  12. Well then you should have PMed jaysblue and offered him Bumgarner for Marte + a bit of gravy.
  13. IMO Bumgarner >= Strasburg >>> Marte I consistently see Marte going in the top 40 in dynasty drafts, and I wouldn't pay that sticker price.
  14. I absolutely love a three-way where only one dude knows it's a three-way. Sneaky. Kudos, TCA.
  15. This really begs the question of whether jaysblue knew Min was involved or not.
  16. Nice work by you to ditch Strasburg and his extensive injury history for the safety of MadBum. I've never been high on Starling Marte so I like Min's end the least on this one. I just don't see the big deal with Marte, you're getting like an .800 OPS with 15 HR. Steals are nice but I expect them to start decling sharply any year now, and he doesn't walk. His profile scares me in a Carl Crawford way (although peak Crawford was a fantasy monster).
  17. I thought it was closer to 10.
  18. All of them, all the time.
  19. We are in no position to trade a SP. I think some of you are forgetting how insanely lucky we got with SP health last year. It's very atypical, and you can probably expect to lose at least one of our SP to some serious injury time this season. God forbid it's Stro or Sanchez. We need to address OF, but trading a SP is not an option.
  20. Now that the website is gone and we're just using the Google Doc, where is a copy of the rules being stored?
  21. I see Meadows as more of a Kole Calhoun than a star.
  22. Turner ended up being a much better hitter than anyone expected at the time.
  23. Steamer projects Bird for essentially the same line as Encarnacion. http://www.fangraphs.com/projections.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&type=steamer&team=0&lg=all&players=0&sort=22,d
